    GWR Class 800

GWR stated that its a Hitachi test train (so most likely an 800) https://mobile.twitter.com/GWRHelp/status/1052468871125487616

Disruption between London Paddington and Slough 16/17th Oct 2018

2nd night in a row as well! Monday was a person hit by a train (not a pleasent event for all involved), and tonight the wires coming down. I've been caught up in both - so the commute has been fun this week. Any bets on what Wednesdays disruption will be? Fiver says points failure!

    GWR Class 800

Apprently one of the 800s has brought down the wires near Hanwell. I suspect it was an 802 because the quite a few of the seats had plastic sheet covers. Not a good two nights on the GWML!

    GWML platform extensions for Crossrail

They certainly do run 12 car trains with SDO. Maidenhead isn't long enough for 12 cars. Usually the 7:33 is delayed by people queing to get on the last open door to walk through to the rear 4.

    Great Western Electrification Progress

My mistake! Clearly need ETCS implemented so that the pans can be dropped automatically then ;)

    Great Western Electrification Progress

I would have thought that pans must be able to go up/down at 140 mph due to neutral sections. I'm sure I've read else where on here that neutral sections are preceeded by magnets that automatically drop and raise the pan. Couldn' they put the magnets in and keep the wires in case something...

    Snow Service Changes 25/02/18 onwards.

Doesn't help that the gwr website has gone - no doubt due to the number of people checking the site

    Great Western Electrification Progress

Does anyone know why the Berks & Hants line needs to be closed during the week, once a month every month until November? I understand the closure for demolishing the footbridge at Newbury - but it seems a bit excessive. Further, the bus replacement to Didcot/Reading doesn't seem great when a...

    Great Western Electrification Progress

One of the morning peak trains from Bristol goes via Newbury (so may not be incorrect).

    Great Western Electrification Progress

On a slightly related note, the new footbridge at Newbury has been going up at a rate of knots. In the past two days, Network Rail have put in the steps and the deck across the line.

    GWR Class 800

Was delayed this morning because of a broken down train - looked like a 2x5 car set sat down at Hayes and Harlington. Anyone know if that is the case and what the problem was?

    Paddington station evacuation (27/10)

Currently being evacuated no details why

    Great Western Electrification Progress

GWR cancelling trains this morning due to damage to the overhead wires between Maidenhead and Paddington. Does anyone know if it's the new or old kit? Given the bad weather the reliability comparison would be interesting.
