I recall a few years ago when a Horsham to Peterborough service was diverted at St Pancras International to run to Bedford instead due to no driver available to work to Peterborough, hope this helps!

Northern Line 1995 Stock units 51542/51543 are still stored at Golders Green as far as I'm aware

1972 mk1 unit 3411/4511/3511 was withdrawn on 02/09/99 with car 3511 being scrapped on 03/03/14. Car 4511 went to Acton Works (for conversion to part of the Asset Train on 18/10/18 I believe, from Golders Green Depot via Ruislip and Hainault Depots iirc), car 3411 was finally scrapped on 03/07/21.

No, unfortunately unit 51543 is not visible from passing trains! it is currently on 6rd in Golders Green Depot on it's own and is not coupled to another unit.

Not much help I know, but unit 51543 is currently residing on 6 rd Golders Green Depot with various bits of equipment strewn around on the carriage floors: unfortunately there was no sign of it's sister unit (51542) as I was in a rush to get my train out of the said depot!

Alf, Thank you very much for the vote of confidence! Having driven the 1995 stock since new, I much preferred driving them conventionally! I also hate the way the 95s stop with a 'jolt' as well since we've had ATO on the Northern! I guess I'm a bit of a 'dinosaur' who hates change! Kind...

Over the past couple of months when approaching the points departing High Barnet platform 1 the train brakes sharply as well. I always select Protected Manual mode when departing from platform 1 because of this, so at least my passengers aren't subjected to being jolted about violently!
