My mistake and sincerely sorry for the daft comment.

    Use of Horns

No not a trained radio officer but aware of the rule that says the term "over and out" should not be used. My attempt at an amusing analogy has obviously got stuck in your highly qualified craw. I apologise for that. Ancs.

Station staff: How do you manage dealing with the public all day?

I would expect a driver that has been physically assaulted to throw the towel in. That means hit in anything other than maybe pushed out of the way but certainly it would include being spat at or having something thrown at them. There might be special circumstances that make it different but...

    Use of Horns

What a strange example. If you had to cater for trespassers on the line you would be sounding the horn continuously, not just in tunnels. Your poor youth shouldn't have been in there and might well have been killed even if the horn was sounded incorrectly on approach. I must admit I do...

Actually it is. If you say out you are by definition not expecting anything else so that ends and overrides the over part. You've just confirmed what I said.

    I have - several actually and I'm a driver.

Manchester Picc to Stockport: timed for 7 or 8 minutes?

In that case the XC would go fast to Slade lane then turn out at 45 to the slow and the Chester would go slow then turn out at 45 to the fast.

Station staff: How do you manage dealing with the public all day?

One of my colleagues was riding pass on a train that was involved with a fatality. He was walking through the train when a woman claimed the delay to be disgusting. He simply replied, "who are you disgusted with madam, the guy who is lying dead under the train or the driver in the front who...

Exactly, he only blew the horn because there was something on the crossing.

Trains using different platforms during engineering works or disruption

I've started from PN123 loads of times and couldn't remember if you can get straight out from it. I never have, it has always been up to the shunting line then back into the station. Thanks for the reminder.

Manchester Picc to Stockport: timed for 7 or 8 minutes?

If they depart at the same time from picc, the XC would go up the fast and the Northern would get checked down to turn onto slow at Slade Lane. If a Nothern diesel could hypothetically take the same route, it would lose a little ground up towards Heaton Chapel but I suspect it would arrive at P2...

Unacceptable TOC behaviour: First Class, or not First Class

People often suffer regret after being caught. Listen, if it's that bad, why don't you complain to the train company. A post on a rail forum warning customers to take care would be more helpful than a witch hunt. Several of you get together and go and see the Operations Manager with your evidence.

Yes. Like saying over and out, it's obviously over if it's out

No judge in the land would prosecute you for it.
