Within just two weeks from opening ( on 1/8/26) the brand new lift at Okehampton Int. failed and was on 15/8/26 found to be out of order at this new and unstaffed station.
Very unhelpfully for people needing to use this lift, no mention was made on the GWR website that this lift was out of order.
It’s been alleged that this eagerly awaited and completed new railway station may not now be opened until
gWR Managers are confident that it will not be subject to the daily scourge of DMU failures, including the troublesome class 175 units, traincrew shortages ( 3 Exeter/ Okehampton services...
Okehampton ( uniquely on the National rail network ? ) has a Booking Office that for all intents and purposes
gives the impression of being open; timetables, paperwork, tickets, coins etc on the counter and jacket on chair back and occasionally people can even be found waiting at the window to...
At Plymouth the Down Through line still has some wood keys in use on the wooden slprs chaired BH track.
I noticed a year or so ago some wood keys in some of the wooden slprs chaired BH non platform lines at Birmingham New Street.
Two bolt (as opposed to 4 bolt) fishplates are now very rare on...

Any info on the many freight liner bogie flats that have been stored out of use ( some there for a few years now) in the Former Bristol West Depot Contr. terminal plse ?
i noticed last week that a few in the main sdgs had been uncoupled and spaced out and had recent black...
Yes I noticed those Tel.poles and wires incl some down, several years ago I’m not sure if they were still in use though.
i have a feeling they were not in use and and were not removed because of the work involved despite the scrap value of copper wires and reuse demand for the poles ..rather...
Rather surprising ( assuming the traincrew were aware of the smoke and where it was coming from ) that the train did not terminate at Totnes, where there is good road access to the platform entrances from the adjacent station approach road ( on both platforms).
The unfortunate cl 175 units previously stored in the open at Holyhead by the Irish Sea, will have been exposed to salt in the wind and rain ..the worst thing for their electrical wiring and on board systems etc.
Does anyone have the numbers of the units once stored at Holyhead and where they...
This is a short sdg used occasionally for stabling ‘on track’ machines, eg a Tamper.
Just wait til the dreaded ‘NR preferred’ buddleia bushes etc start growing through and in this walkway !
