I thought the service would travel between Nuneaton and Walsall using the Sutton Park Line rather than reversing at Walsall. This would reduce the electrified route north of Nuneaton to between Walsall and Wolverhampton.
I'm struggling with this one. Even building a seperate lift shaft at the south east side of the platform seems unfeasible. The idea of extending platforms north east and creating more room for a shaft here is expensive given the amount of people using the station. If either of the adjacent...
Another reason to extend services to Stafford once again imo. Plus there's a lack of ticketing options available that restricts you to taking the longer detour into Birmingham if you intend to travel North, which doesn't help. Though I have to say, if there's two of you then getting an Uber to...
My experience with Cross-country recently suggests that they might be short-forming services to save on fuel costs. Various people were complaining that their seats were taken by other travellers who also had seat reservations for the same seat over the Easter bank holiday which suggests they...
As someone living on the chase line north of Walsall, I couldn't see myself using a service to Wolverhampton that much. Personally I would favour the Chase Line running to Stafford once again (currently it makes more economic sense to get a taxi to Stafford), but with the cutback HS2 I can't see...
I took the Chiltern Mainline from Moor Street to Marylebone on Friday, returning yesterday. The 10:15 from Moor Street was moderately full on departure, and was completely full after Bicester. The train broke down for 20 minutes at Haddenham and Thame Parkway, at which point more people got on...
Having been on a 730 a handful of times now, i'm still undecided on whether or not I prefer them to the class 350's as yet.
Things I love: The wide gantry's, the information boards that tell you where seats are available. The fact that the A/C units don't make an excruciating thumping noise...
Spotted a 730 running the Chase Line today, which surprised me as I didn't think they were cleared to run to Rugeley. https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:C73264/2024-04-20/detailed
Another vote for East Midlands Parkway, unless you like the view of Ratcliffe Power Station. Add the point that there's no connections to stations not on the Midland Mainline and no bus connection to East Midlands Airport.
Also Rugeley Trent Valley station, though the cooling towers there will...
