Hey you guys!
Looks like not a lot is happening in this thread of late! I haven't been by lately as I failed twice at train driver assessment/ recruitment so I'm out. Hope you have all been keeping well during the pandemic.
Anyway, got an email this evening, looks like they are recruiting...
To be honest I think that is a whole other conversation for another thread. It's nice if a bloke holds a door open for me but... I'll also hold a door open for a bloke. There's a whole divide in society on it and people will just disagree on it. My opinion is... people should just be courteous...
Totally agree. I'm more than capable of swearing, and do so in the workplace quite often. I work in an office. This idea of having to "moderate" your language because women are present is spectacularly outdated. Also I have worked in women-only environments where the language is faaaar worse...
Ahhhh really?! Thanks for the heads-up and congratulations on getting an interview! I have no other emails though. I only got my email this afternoon so I assume they sent the wrong ones to the successful people first and then the correct ones to the rest of us today.
Ah, I got my rejection email for the Future Opportunities ad. They have really upped their game though, it says I'm a "silver medallist" and they'll keep my details on file, which is an endearing way to put it! :E
It's been a while since I last posted in here, I kinda let things be for a while after getting rejected for every signalling job I applied for.
Anyway today I applied for this one: Signaller - Future Opportunities (grade 2)
Firstly, only 8 questions - bonus! But the sort that reeeeally...
Hey SpankTheMonkey, just wondering if you know if this role is subject to the train driver application process, ie two fails and you're out? I've failed twice so cannot have a career as a train driver but I like the sound of this.
Hi @amanda08, if that is for the crossing keeper at Long Eaton, it appears to be in Staffordshire so maybe check with Recruitment about the location? It's not even the side of Staffordshire that's next to Derbyshire. (See my posts on previous pages about it.)
It's too far, EMCC is my local, I live in Nottingham. I have been applying for Derby /Sheffield locations. Uttoxeter is the furthest I would drive, it's about 45-50 minutes.
Maybe. I used to work in Long Eaton, and I'm from Staffordshire (and, living in Nottingham, I have applied for signaller roles in Staffordshire). You could not reasonably advertise it as being in Long Eaton if in fact it is near Lichfield, just my opinion - I wonder if it's a mistake, with Long...
Thanks, @Dave Tasty and @High Dyke.... So it isn't in Long Eaton then?!?? Long Eaton is not in Staffordshire. I'm just wondering where Long Eaton comes into it if the job is in Staffordshire and the line manager in Derby.
Hey everyone, I'm thinking of applying for the crossing keeper position at Long Eaton, however it says it's at Roddige signal box and I can't locate it. Google seems to think it's near Lichfield. Does anyone know where it is?
