You are spot on there but that of course is just common sense. In regards to new trains one thing I will say is that Desiro's are among the finest looking units to have run on our metals, a lot more so than the ones they have replaced and that is speaking both as an enthusiast and as a customer.
In all honestly Snapper, I was only having a little jibe at you back in that last post. I admit that in a lot of cases here you are right indeed, in terms of improved infrastructure, new trains, etc.... and certainly on the railfreight front, having a fleet of locomotives such as the 66's has...
Well Snapper I have to say I am most impressed with this brand of indoctrination you like feed to us here and elsewhere. I'm surprised you haven't already considered the idea of a full time career as a PR spokesperson or spin doctor. You would have also done very well in writing such propaganda...
I kind of agree on that last part. Instead of Voyagers and Meridians being built as they were they should have gone for something with completely seperate power cars in that kind of order (and make them all 7-9 trailers in length).
Haha, what I wouldn't give to see that happen too! - Perhaps something based on the scrapped Intercity 250 project (Class 93 electric + Mk.5's) and for Cross-Country, etc...that idea that was written in RE a few months ago (Uk version of Siemens Eurosprinter or Bombardier TRAXX + OBB Railjet...
Never been a big fan of 'Grids'. Looking at it in retrospect it might have been wiser to have put a stop to any further building after the first Romanian built batch and concentrate on devolping what would become of course the Class 58 instead (imagine what the difference would have been if we...
Well dare I say it but in regards to their ethics, they are probably doing a better job at running it, in regards to how efficient they operate in their homeland.
I already know that but what I mean is that since its now officially DB, it would be interesting what could entail, not regards to the livery (although to be honest I will be glad to see the back of EWS) but in terms of what other changes there could be.
Well it will be interesting to see how this pans out. Its probably the best thing that has happened to them so I'm a little more optimistic about what DBS's approach will be, in terms of the way our German counterparts like to operate. Just pondering on what the prospects could be.
It was written by Ian Walmsley, Porterbrook's Engineering Development Manager. About the possible use of locomotives (something based on either Bombardier TRAXX or Siemens Eurosprinter) and coaching stock. In other words something like the OBB 'Railjet'. Apprantly even Roger Ford (Modern...
Did anybody here read the recent cover article in last months Rail Express (RE151), over a possible alternate to this whole IEP fiasco?:
http://railexpress.wordpress.com/2008/11/19/re151/
Pretty interesting reading anyway.
Indeed it would, especially in regards to the expected growth. Also another idea having would be to have two seperate power cars, as opposed to underfloor engines, its okay of course to have that for regional and commuter but nobody really wants it on such long distance journeys. But I guess...
