I saw that the PAYG single and caps are now on BRFares but will there (or was there) be any consultation on them / are they the final fares?
It seems to me that many journeys will be higher than a standard return. Eg PNF-WRX is £3.90 vs 2x2.80 PAYG singles or £6 for the cap.
I know in the...
I’m sorry to say that the result will be fewer business miles by train. At the moment the person inconvenienced is compensated. In this model the company will be, people won’t bother to claim as often and will be more annoyed at their wasted time.
Will this new delay repay scheme mean you can’t claim from the operator? It’s pretty common for people travelling for work to claim the delay directly when the ticket has been bought via a central booking engine by their company (for obvious reasons).
Is there a link to the full timetable yet?
Might be wrong here but the extension of the Crewe shuttle to Wrexham could be a massive improvement in terms of travelling to London. Currently many (including myself) choose to drive to Chester to start the journey.
I expect the BCR will hugely overweight the impact of rail passengers to be honest. You’re right and the station location is not good for most of the actual jobs.
Personally I can’t see how it stacks up unless the plan is to split the line there so Merseyrail can have the rest!

The BBC has flagged that there is due to be an announcement on progressing funding for 7 new stations today (18 Feb 2026):
Additional infrastructure apparently also part of the announcements.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. It turns out that if I can find a suitable train I can buy the ticket online which is great!
Such a shame you can't just buy a ticket by 'type' like you can at the desk or ticket machine, but I appreciate many people would buy the wrong ticket for their...
Thanks so much for confirming!
Any suggestions as to how to most easily buy the 1st Day return ticket? It’s hard/impossible to buy online on the TfW app and I don’t really want to queue in the station!
My understanding is that I can travel Chester to Manchester stations (actually going to Oxford Rd) via Crewe legitimately on a CTR-Manchester Stns ticket.
I like this ticket because it gives three routing options (Victoria, Piccadilly via Crewe, and Oxford Rd via Warrington etc).
I have to...
Thanks so much. I see Seatfrog charge £3 on top of the cost which isn’t great. I’m not sure £15 (Seatfrog minimum) is worth it for coffee and biscuits….
Jumping on this thread - do you just sit down in first and wait for the conductor to buy the upgrade?
And am I right in that it is only a nicer seat now, with any food & drink being another additional purchase. Such a shame as the old Business Class option was a great value upgrade.
