It's actually a generic message from a generic company, it's not done for NS or an UK TOC specifically. When using an experimental research design for a survey if you introduce changing factors, e.g. different disruption location, people may react differently, so in the end I went with a single...
Good evening, for my thesis I'm currently doing a survey about people's opinions and views about different types/tones of messaging used by railway companies when posting on social media about service disruptions. This applies to companies in the Western European railway sector.
I'd really...
Thank you for the additional info. Would you recommend they take the Jacobite on the FW-Mallaig portion and return or would a normal train suffice (covered by the Rover)?
They don't have any particular interests, they just want to visit as much as possible (although without constantly being on the move, so they could spend at least 2-3 days in the places with more to see). They will be landing in Glasgow most probably.
Taking into account both of your comments...
Good evening,
I got some family friends who want to go on a trip in Scotland at the end of August this year and they mentioned neither of the two drivers is fond of driving on the left. As such they'd rather travel by train.
I know some general information about sightseeing and rail travel in...
Seems like the Canadian one would be easier to obtain since it's not a visa per se. Looking at the information page it should be quite easy to obtain and only costs 7 canadian dollars. Here's the link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/visit-canada/eta.html
The Air Canada flights with a single transfer in Toronto are actually quicker overall than the United one (about 1h less), while still being cheaper (and only 3 pounds more than the longer Air Canada route with 2 transfers).
Slightly off-topic, in the case of an on-track emergency where there are no emergency stop buttons (someone falls onto the track, large object/debris on the track), how does one (in this case a simple bystander, so by no means a tube employee) signal the driver of the oncoming tube train to warn...
I can't say for sure when it comes to destination, but the normal route would have been Waterloo - Herne Hill - Beckenham Junction - Bromley South - Swanley and then towards HS1 from Fawkham Junction (just after Farningham Road).
There were also times when it was routed via the Catford Loop...
OpenStreetMap and its railway-oriented counterpart OpenRailwayMap show sidings and their names (although you have to manually search for them at each location). Their names appear to show more clearly on OpenStreetMap.
In the case that lines through Kent House were to be blocked, how would trains be diverted? I assume that most would be routed through the Catford Loop, however I do not know what its max capacity is. Are the lines from Beckenham Jct to New Beckenham (Beckenham spur and then on to...
Quick question, sorry if I'm asking for information that has already been shared, I haven't been really up to speed with all the updates.
On OpenStreetMap (https://www.openstreetmap.org) the whole section from Bicester Village to Bletchley is now being shown as completed. I am aware that this...
