No they won't. Trust me unless you've been a cop you don't realise how crap it is.
I've been out and on the railway for a good few years now and I'm still delirious in comparison.
Re the pension if they allowed you to transfer it straight away then yes, defo do it as you'll be on training...
What a load of rubbish. Northern are great to work for, I've recently come back after going elsewhere for a couple of years.
By far the most varied diagrams even if it is stopping work, non interfering managers, great lads in the depot, great shift pattern.
I've got 20 years left and fully...
Can't help thinking that will be an issue. Tbf I think Northern did try and some of the refurbs were half decent but unfortunately a very small % of the people that use their services are just scum I'm afraid.
Sorry for branding people that but I do see these trains at the end of a usual days...
I've just left a place after only 13 months, it's in my contract that I will have to payback training costs if I leave within two years but they're not pursuing it.
Which company are you talking about?
Not desirable in the least to me. I'd need a labotamy to drive London and back day after day after day.
The money is desirable, the work imo is the least desirable of any toc at pic.
Your best depot for Liverpool is DB Schenker at Warrington.
However they're supposed to be losing men, that said no one really seems to know what's going on at the moment with regard to that but I can say for certain they won't be taking on anytime soon.
I know the school liaison unit at BTP Manchester closed a few years back now, no idea if anyone else picked up the job, network rail etc.
When they were running though you always got the argument "why are they paying coppers to go round schools teaching kids stuff their parents should be...
Are we attempting to enter a race to the bottom here Paul?
This is about the railway and there's no question that there's more anti social behaviour including assaults at unmanned locations.
I wasn't even a guard but I left passenger work because I was sick of the increasingly drunken and...
They've actually recently cancelled an internal course as well. Shame because a couple of good mates were on it, long serving guards.
Again the word is that it's due to the impending arrival of qualifieds from freight.
Hearing that Northern are getting a few qualifieds from Schenker and that's why they've been cancelling courses.
Can't say how true it is, it's just mess room talk.
The one area that Schenker are booming in is construction. They can barely cover the demand coming out of Peak Forest and it's supposedly the same across the board at the construction depots.
It's an odd one really as the drivers have a no redundancy agreement in place until April 2017 and...
