It must be quite unusual to have such a heavily reworked and re-engined locomotive without a new classification (per Class 29, 31, 57, 69) and to have two quite different locomotive designs sharing the same subclass?

Nameplates belong to DRS, who have retained them.

To be fair, and to my own surprise, both those 47s still exist in preservation and appear capable of turning a wheel.

Maybe one of them will go into Police livery, per 37093. Who really knows what LSL are capable of!

There are worse fates for 37s than being repainted in non-prototypical liveries.

I don't agree with this bit. In terms of tree cover we are far behind Finland, Sweden (which I expected), Portugal and Spain (which I didn't) when comparing European countries. People find all sorts of spurious reasons to remove mature trees, including supposedly sustainable urban regeneration...

But then the people employed to manage 'lessons learned' sessions would have nothing to do!

Spean Bridge? Barely ten miles outside Fort William, but without the accommodation or attractions of the latter. I can't imagine many northbound passengers get off at Spean Bridge, and most heading south would presumably start at Fort William rather than drive ten miles into the hinterland to a...
