Bear in mind that any non-print lettering of this era may well have been custom designed or taken from a specialist supplier so it's highly unlikely you'll find a match in any currently available font. In an application such as this it may even have come from a BR drawing with only the letter...

Indeed: on a visit to Falkirk about a decade ago we were told that the roof of the main assembly building has leaked for years, and there's no way of fixing it without suspending production. For all these reasons investment in recent years seems to have been concentrated in Scarborough.

What's much more interesting is the change of heart for Volvo who have gone all in for supplying complete vehicles with a single bodybuilding partner (eg MCV). This goes against the grain of that policy completely.
