Oxfordshire County Council has plans for adding a cycleway to both sides (see Phase 1 Image 1 and Phase 2 Image 1). Unfortunately the cycleway is on the opposite side of the carriageway to the underpass plans! But I remain hope (naively?) that sense will prevail and one of the plans will be...
It seems like the above is no longer correct. Twice in the last week, I have seen Oxford to Marylebone trains waiting at Bicester Village, but the level crossing barriers have been up! (Once was Sat 19th, and one was today.)
Has something changed with how the level crossing is operated?
For anyone interested, Network Rail have confirmed that one of the effects of the signalling upgrade will be too reduce the amount of time the LC is down.
The London Road level crossing in Bicester is going to be shut for five days over the August bank holiday weekend (under an EQR order):
