Not been there recently, but that was the case at Moorgate. Gateline is run by TfL, but also used by passengers on Great Northern trains, with London Terminals e-tickets. Think it is similar at Old Street and Highbury and Islington on that route.
For some journeys London Thameslink fares are the same as those to London Terminals, but on other routes a supplement is charged. Harmonisation would mean less revenue / increased fares or mixture of both.
National Rail Enquiries provide the diagrams about a third of the way down this page, as guidance for Thameslink passengers travelling from north / south: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/ticket_types/46587.aspx
This page on NRE is useful https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/254145.aspx
Engineering pages might be correct longer ahead, but it currently states for Thameslink, that journey planners are up to date until (NB final comment):
They should work for the Key as well - if it doesn't this should be flagged with Great Northern / Thameslink

Believe it can only be done with paper tickets, even in the event of disruption, so with ticket acceptance on tube (ie not e-tickets and not tickets on the Key - unless that ticket is a travel card).
Pre-COVID TL were running M-F peak semi-fast services between Welwyn Garden City and Kings Cross. The plan has been that they should run through St Pancras instead and link up with services south of the river to become WGC - Sevenoaks service.
Believe driver training is continuing for that and...
I've noticed that Southeastern are doing quite a lot of advertising, promoting an increase in availability of Advance tickets - see https://www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/tickets/tickets-explained/advance-tickets which starts:
I suspect any changes are a while off yet, as I believe there has to be a consultation prior to any closures - nothing showing yet on https://www.transportfocus.org.uk. [if this is wrong, please could someone more knowledgable correct me].
Also there should still be staff available to help...
