    There are four E400's... the route requires four buses. If an E400 is defective or just off the road for routine servicing then an E300 is allocated to keep the route low floor.

    Simple answer to the capacity problem would be to turn the short X5's into full runs to Penrith. As for the fuel consumption, I would not believe a word of it without some concrete evidence. Stagecoach run a lot of Plaxton Profile / Volvo B7R's, and the AFAIK the only reason they have stopped...

    Putting the steps and accessibilty issues to one side, the use of deckers would be a backwards step in many respects. The B7's are comfortable, and have a good turn of speed. Both of which are needed on a route that takes almost two hours from Workington to Penrith and vice versa, and covers...
