I went from DBC to TPE and left to go back to DBC as soon as possible. Loads of weekend work and 0300/0400/0500 starts, dealing with idiot passengers, tedious work far outweigh not having a final salary pension
We work to a 13 week link, week 1 being annual leave week followed by a week of rest days, therefore 8 full weeks off per contract year. Difficult to compare as we are on annualised hours but I can assure you DB cargo is a 30.66 hour week. Have a look on the aslef company information page...
I think this is most likely a North East driver who is including his travel time in the equation. Under the hub system a driver is required to book on at multiple locations within a specified geographical area. The North East area is larger than most and it may be the case that said driver lives...
75 out of 760 odd is about 10% by my maths, all of whom are leaving voluntarily with a nice fat payoff. DB and Freightliner drivers prefer to work for companies who put safety over profit
