Thank you both for the info, we have already been told about the excellent value Saveaway ticket and plan to purchase this, the info on Kirkdale depot is handy to know.
Will come back at the end of the month and let you know how the trip went.
Thanks for the info, I cant see anything for the 27th of this month so hopefully wont be too busy. Is 2hrs enough or not enough to see most of whats running on the Northern Lines?
Sorry maybe my wording wasn't very clear, yes most boarded at Leeds in the front set, when I said just 4 I meant at any point of the whole journey there was only 4 travelling in the very rear carriage where I was.
My next trip is to Liverpool, wont have too long so was planning 2 hours at Sandhills for the Northern Lines but which is the best station for the Wirral Lines please. Will be looking at spending 2 hours there.
How are the staff with spotters? Will I need to let them know why I am there?
Many...
That's good to hear, its a beautiful part of the country and anyone who hasnt been on the line should do it. We took the 0747 as needed to travel back to Euston then home to Devon.
I did stretch my legs and walk the length of the train after Garsdale and counted 57 on board, majority in the front 158.
I was surprised we didnt leave Leeds with the incoming set from Sheffield instead of waiting for the other set from the depot, time it had coupled up we left 20 minutes late...
A great trip was had, tops of the hills in places covered in mist, fantastic signal boxes along the route as well. Had 2 x 158s with just 4 of us in the rear carriage for the whole journey (07:47 from Leeds. Thanks for the viewing suggestions.
At Totnes the lift is locked when the station is unstaffed. There is an intercom you can press to a call centre somewhere who will then remotely call the lift for you to access, i have done this several times and had no problems.
Hi everyone,
Wilk be making my first trip on the Settle and Carlisle line in a couple of weeks.
I will be making a single journey from Leeds to Carlisle, my question is, which is the best side of the train to sit on for the scenery? Or is it great both sides?
Many thanks
Excellent map, nice and clear and easy to use. If you dont mind me saying the search station box would be better if we could put the station name in, cannot see many people knowing a station postcode. I like it though, only looked at a couple of stations in my area and looks all good, well done.
Can confirm upon arrival the 37s are in the sidings next to platform 4, easy to photograph 37425 from the platforms and 37607 from the carpark. Also present at the station were 175002 175007 800008 802101 220026
Passing Long Rock Depot i could see 08836 and 175010.
