I was on a Northern service from Thornaby to Middlesbrough today and throughout the journey (albeit only one stop, about five/ten minutes) nobody came to check/sell tickets. Myself and a few others who boarded at Thornaby were sat with our money waiting to pay for tickets, but the guard didn't...

Just out of curiosity, and on a slightly related note, I was in the car today during some very heavy rain, in which you could hardly see anything through the windscreen at 10mph, even with the windscreen wipers working. In the event of very, very heavy rain, could a train service be delayed...

Aye, I assumed that even though this technically is against the rules, it's not particularly bad seeing as I'm collecting them simply for my own personal reasons, with no intent to copy/defraud the tickets in any way. :p

I'm not sure if the gates are always like this, but when I travelled from Darlington to Kings Cross a fortnight ago today, they were just left open. That, coupled with the fact that my ticket wasn't checked at all throughout the journey, shows why so many people get away with not buying a ticket.

And you should be able to over the phone.

I would like to know if there is a way to use trains on routes they're not currently assigned to. For example, I'd like to use the NXEC HST on the Newcastle - York route, but I can only use it on the Bristol - Exeter route at the moment. Is there a way to move it? Thanks.
