EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

I imagine this was the case with 005, it was out of use for a good while beforehand. The other sets didn't enter service again after being stopped.

EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

Random, thought it would be 103, but that made a comeback yesterday!

EMR to introduce reduced Inter City service from Monday 20th July

That was 222011, which is back in service now. All other sets have seen use in the past few days, apart from 103/104. I know 104 is off lease, does anybody know if 103 has followed?

EMR to introduce reduced Inter City service from Monday 20th July

Yes, the only current 10 car service is the 1602 STP-SHF. This is required to form 2x services back south from Sheffield. However from 31st August, this is no longer the case, so it will be a single. I don't think there will be any doubles on a weekday from 31st August.

EMR to introduce reduced Inter City service from Monday 20th July

222011 has recently made a comeback after being out of service for a few months. Sounds like it could be re-jigging of diagrams more than anything. There is some slack in some at the moment, and some services based on some others being doubles.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

They were ordered in July 2019, and the cracking issue was some point during Covid I believe?

EMR Class 810 reliability: potential improvements

The engines must be limited in their output then, otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

EMR Class 810 reliability: potential improvements

While the engines have more power in an 810, I believe the the combined motor power is actually less than a 222, which might explain the performance difference?

EMR to introduce reduced Inter City service from Monday 20th July

Indeed, although this time there is the additional benefit of WCML/ECML ticket acceptance.

EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

Quite a few 222s (and an 810) have failed today, resulting in a pretty catastrophic service this evening: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/search/detailed/gb-nr:STP/to/gb-nr:LEI/2026-07-29/0200-0159?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

This was purely because of disruption, that resulted in the 1632/1635 being cancelled. The units for those services were attached for the 1835/1902.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Seems to be 4 810s and 14 222s. Looking at RTT+ 810012/13/14/18 are out today.

EMR Class 222’s - declining reliability

It can be done, Lumo seem to be having great successes with their 222 fleet, often used at 100% availablity.

Class 810 for East Midlands Railway Construction/Introduction Updates

Indeed, the next two will be Chiltern (September), and GWR (December) - as explained here: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/great-british-railways No others have been announced yet, with Avanti / XC / EMR being next year at some point. Of course, the current EMR situation could change things, an...

EMR to introduce reduced Inter City service from Monday 20th July

A few months ago, I got the 0609 CHD-STP. 5 car 222 on a Saturday morning. I had coach A to myself Leicester to London! I do accept that is not the norm though.
