TRIVIA: Shortest journey on 125 MPH stock

I don't know if HST services still stop there but I remember both boarding and alighting an HST at Devonport station a few years back. Devonport to Plymouth has to be a contender for one of the shortest distances.

Stations that are too close together

Devonport and Plymouth are very close together, at most the journey is five minutes by train. However the walk between the two stations can take 30-40 minutes depending on the pace you walk at. On a personal note it benefits me because I only have to step out of my flat and walk down the...

    Stations which should be renamed

I didn't realise they had changed the England/Wales border since I moved from Shropshire! There will be a lot of people very surprised that they will no longer have to cross Chirk viaduct to enter Wales!

Delays at Plymouth (Sun 29th April 2012)

Delays at Plymouth in both Cornwall and London/Midlands directions. Station information boards indicated possible 90 minute waits due to an obstruction between Plymouth and Totnes. Does anybody know what's going on? I am currently on the delayed 10:40 awaiting permission to travel on the...

    Devon and Cornwall Railcard

I'm trying to book tickets from Plymouth to Exeter and my girlfriend has the Devon and Cornwall Railcard, however, when moving from National Rail to any train company website to buy them it quotes a higher price and doesn't recognise the Devon and Cornwall Railcard. There are two of us...

Which stations are most in need of work?

I read in the Shropshire Star, before moving to Plymouth two months ago, that many Shropshire stations were to receive improvements, in particular Shrewsbury and Telford Central. I was impressed at the re-opening of Platform 3, but I think the roof of the station over the main island of...

Your best memory of travelling on a 150 with central trains/London midland

I always remember 2/3 car 150's in the bay platforms at Shrewsbury in their green livery and the commuter service between Shrewsbury and Birmingham. I also remember one journey along the Cambrian coast between Machynlleth and Barmouth. Not central trains or LM but I remember an odd working...

    Resited stations

Ivybridge station was closed in 1965, but then re-opened in 1994, a little to the East of its original location.

    Platform Tickets

Thanks all for your help. At Plymouth there's a banner over the barriers requesting that if you are entering the platforms but aren't travelling then make a donation to a charity. So I put 50p in the charity bucket and gained access to the platform.

    Platform Tickets

It's Plymouth station, do I just go up to the ticket office and ask for a platform ticket? What is the usual price?

    Platform Tickets

Is it still possible to buy platform tickets at National Rail stations?
