    Marylebone Fire 28th Aug 26

Let's put this into perspective. It's a fire alarm activation that was false alarm. 30 minutes for the fire service to respond, search and declare everything safe is (I would say) a reasonable response time for a London terminus. It's happened before without comment and will happen again...

    Marylebone Fire 28th Aug 26

Apart from this thread is talking about something unrelated to the fire at Wembley. Trying to operate a service with the signalbox closed is a little difficult.

East-West Rail (EWR) countdown to entry into service

There were additional trains in the paths of the XCs, or were you just trying to make a point!? ;)

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

I'm not certain there's room for any extra provision. The control floor is/has recently been refurbished and is occupied by WMR. It's not a bad idea, but I think the practicality of doing so here when space is already tight may prevent it from happening. PS - I certainly wouldn't relish the...

All cross country services suspended 23/08/26

One answer is that there are less train and crew diagramming constraints on a Sunday, so there's possibly more of an opportunity to operate this rather than doing the same on a Monday (for example). Another answer is moving resources around and adapt the diagrams to free up the trains and train...

    Chiltern 165/0 refresh

It is. But it is anticipated that this will not affect the work being undertaken on the 165s.

    Chiltern stopping at Acocks Green

Yes. There are reduced WMR services because of the lineside fire resulting in the suspension of services between Kidderminster and Stourbridge Junction.

    Heat Related Disruption - 13 Aug 2026

Depends on whether the amendments are made because of infrastructure concerns (e.g., bendy rails) or rolling stock concerns (e.g., engines shutting down or air con). If it's the latter, then strengthening trains may not be an option. Best to rework what you've got to best effect. If it's the...

Chiltern MK5s Starting 2026 (non speculative updates thread)

Not sure of the linkage between the two. It refers to 68019 rescuing a freight loco (66507).

What adverts/messages have appeared on the back of credit-card-sized ticket stock?

The short answer is that they run into the 100's. There was a vogue for adverts on the back of orange tickets in the late 90s and as you say it continues now albeit not as colourful, diverse and widespread. If I recall correctly the LU had started before the national railway did and I guess it...

No problem then, as per the previous answer the training is still ongoing.

Chiltern MK5s Starting 2026 (non speculative updates thread)

You cannot substitute a loco-hauled set for a DMU without needing to provide a train manager. Training is still ongoing. 165s are suitable for Birmingham services if the choice is that or nothing.
