Is Euston-Warrington the longest non stop run?

Does anybody have a list of the longest non stop run per TOC is? It would be interesting to see some of the longer runs on companies you dont associate with long distance non stop trains. I can start the ball rolling with Chiltern, who have daily Warwick Parkway - Marylebone and Marylebone - Warwick Parkway runs. That is 72 minutes/92 miles. What are the longest non stop services from places like Waterloo, Victoria, London Bridge (etc)?

*at least; it's likely that at the next WCML recast at the end of next year there might be another hourly London to Preston IC service with more calls along the Trent Valley and such; might get some extensions to Blackpool too post-electrification. Certainly all interested parties (Virgin, NR, the DfT) agree on this much.

Jumping the gun a bit there. Virgin's franchise runs until December this year, so unless they win the franchise they will have no say in the Dec 2013 timetable. Virgin have also publicly stated they would like to run 4 tph to Birmingham at certain times at least so where would the extra stock come from?

Well yes, but the DfT and Network Rail do seem pretty insistent on this Preston/Blackpool service (cue Alliance Rail shouting "pick us! pick us!") so I'd say it'll be quite likely to happen regardless of who gets the franchise. Stock can and will be ordered when it's got the weight of the DfT behind it, you'll see.

St Pancras to Paris Nord is roughly 65 miles longer than St Pancras to Bruxelles Midi. Can't remember the exact distances though, but there are non stop Paris services.

St Pancras-Paris Nord is 492km or 305 miles which is further than any wholly UK non-stop run.

If we are counting legs on trains starting in the UK then the longest must be the Lille-Avignon leg of the St Pancras-Avignon summer Saturday Eurostar train
I make it 916km or 570 miles (this is via the old line through Lyon but must be similar via the LGV). Journey time is (or was in 2009) 4h16m.

TPE will probably be one of the overnight services; some run non stop to Leeds/Sheffield.

Northern is a tricky one because most services are all-stops; York - Selby may be a contender.

The DfT may be quite keen but in the ITT they have only specified a minimum service level, based on the current service frequencies, and left everything else up to the franchise holder. As for Network Rail, perhaps they should concentrate a bit more on their day job rather than trying to specify service patterns, then maybe they wouldn't be in breach of their licence regarding InterCity punctuality.

All TPE services serve Huddersfield, so it won't be anything trans-Pennine.

NT could be Burnley Manchester Rd-Hebden Bridge.

You do realize the ITT is for a pre-recast timetable (Dec 2012)? There'll be a whole year for the incoming TOC to liaise with the DfT and whomever to work out what's actually going to happen after the recast (Dec 2013).

Erm, that is part of their day job; have you ever looked at their Route Utilization Strategies, for instance? Full of ways that service patterns are recommended to be optimized and increased and whatever, and the necessary infrastructure improvements (if any) this might entail.

The c2c answer is easy - the 0805 from Shoeburyness, and the 1700 and 1730 from London (the latter of which is 12-car), all of which are non-stop between Benfleet and Fenchurch Street - 29 miles. Quite impressive considering the entire route is only 39½ miles!

Elsewhere, FGW do run some services fast between Reading and Exeter St David's, with the Newquay summer services and some Night Riveira journeys being obvious examples, which is a distance of almost 140 miles. Southern's answer is probably any of the various fast Brighton Express runs between East Croydon and Brighton, at slightly over 40 miles. Southeastern run some peak HS1 services fast through Ebbsfleet, so I suspect their answer is Stratford to Ashford, reaching just over 50 miles. And Greater Anglia do run a daily fast service between Liverpool Street and Ipswich, to or from Norwich (named "The East Anglian" under NXEA), which is almost 70 miles.

FCC run a non stop Kings Cross - St Neots at 2010 in the evenings, coupled with the non stop Cambridges.

A few years ago I got a National Express train from Kings Cross that didn't make a stop at another station for five hours. So I got off at Finsbury Park and got the tube.

Many years ago a London-Penzance service on Summer Saturdays ran non stop from London to Plymouth and in the other direction one called Plymouth, Westbury, London.
I remember this running around 1999/2000 but the down train also called at Reading although this was to pick up only. I was also informed that the up train stopped at Exeter for a crew change but this was not a public station call so you couldn't leave the train there. I don't know if the down train also did this.

I'm not sure about that. December 2012 will be the inherited DfT timetable which the winning bidder will be required to operate until December 2013, there will be no opportunity to change this. December 2013 is the first opportunity to introduce amended services for which there is a train service requirement but as long as the bidders meet this they can propose their own timetables.

For Northern it will be one of:
Chesterfield to Nottingham,
Preston to Blackpool North,
Darlington to Durham or
Todmorden to Rochdale.

For TPE it will be Carlisle to Motherwell.

For Scotrail it will be Crewe to Watford.

Not the longest but Preston to Glasgow must be a fairly long non-stop run.

Having just checked, roughly 80% of TPE services Monday-Friday serve Lockerbie, and a couple of Glasgow services serve Motherwell.

So are there some TPEs that are nonstop from Carlisle to Glasgow? That just breaks triple figures mileage-wise and is well over the hour mark.

Aye, just one each way Monday-Friday - the first service a day northbound and the second service a day southbound.

Does anyone know Crosscountry's longest interval? Can anything beat Cheltenham to Birmingham?

Merseyrail - Chester to Capenhurst

Unless I'm seriously mistaken, and I'm certain I'm not, alternate Chester services skip Capenhurst, and those that do so have a seven mile interval between stations (Bache to/from Hooton) - which is further than Chester to Capenhurst. I don't know if any skip both though?

There is nothing special about Doncaster and that has several tph to London.

Several stations on the ECML can be described as feeder stations - Doncaster, Darlington and Retford being three good examples. Those towns in their own right might not warrant a London service according to some, but when you look at their catchment area then it becomes clear.
