Thanks for your reply!

That's reassuring to know I can't be too far off the MMI then. Are there any specific things I need to watch out for in the MMI?

How are you feeling about the DMI? Did they give you a rough timeframe?

Thanks!
Hi there

My advice with the MMI would be to prepare your answers and try and always refer back to safety. Remember its a safety critical role. There's not much else you can do honestly.
You will also have 21 scenarios based questions on the computer, there are no right or wrong answers it's more to see how you handle certain situations.
With that 1 go with your 1st instinct and don't overthink it.

I'm feeling extremely nervous about the DMI? I don't even have a date yet but I think as this is the final hurdle of the interview process I'm feeling even more pressure not to mess it up.

No they didn't give me a timeframe just said all the courses starting this year are full.

As long as you prepare I think you will be fine.

Ok so are you going into module 5? How are you finding the entire experience? Is the passmark 90% for modules 1-4 and 95% for module 5? Is it all multiple choice? What strategy have you been using to retain the information? Sorry for all the questions. Haven’t been in education for over 25 years so I’ve been anxious about the intensity of the course.
Thank you. I hope the outcome is good when I do go for it

The rules course is approximately 12 weeks, so you’ll be doing Mod 5 right at the very end in your last week :)

Congrats. When is your start date? Are you in for Dartford depot?
Thank you! Yes I am in for Dartford, 1st of march is the date. Hopefully it means a lot more of you guys waiting will hear very soon, will be nice to know anyone that gets the same date! Not sure how it works as to if there’s any earlier dates happening or if this is the first in 2027

Hi all, I’ve done my medical on the 18th of September and received a call today asking which depot would I like to go to, as I am in the pool for Charing Cross and Victoria. The distance is not an issue for either depots but I would be grateful for any info and suggestions as to which depot is better. Thanks in advance.

First thing I would do if I was given a choice is look at the depot routes. Here are the routes and traction for you.

Victoria:

Traction:
375,376,377,465,466
Routes:
London Terminals - Dartford/Gravesend 4 ways - via Greenwich or Lewisham then Woolwich, via Bexleyheath, via Sidcup
London Terminals - Orpington 2 ways - via Grove Park, via Penge East
Hayes Line
Orpington - Sevenoaks
London - Faversham via Chatham
London - Ashford via Maidstone
London Blackfriars
Catford loop
Victoria - Selhurst Depot (via Clapham Junction/Balham and via Herne Hill/Tulse Hill/ Crystal Palace) (link dependant)

Charing Cross

Traction:
376,465,466,707
Routes:
London Terminals - Dartford/Gravesend 4 ways - via Greenwich or Lewisham then Woolwich, via Bexleyheath, via Sidcup
London Terminals - Orpington 2 ways - via Grove Park, via Penge East
Hayes Line
Orpington - Sevenoaks

Hi there, in the MMI I have heard, anecdotally that the questions are around the responses given in the initial application. Was this the case for you?

I am happy and able to present dozens of STAR examples however that seems a wasted endeavour if I only need to focus on the examples given in the initial application

No, that’s not true. You can give whatever answer you like. You are given 6 questions, which are all over the forum and you provide suitable answers for those 6 questions.

I've got my DMI coming up. The email I received with the study details says "Also research the South Terminals and geographical area we serve.". Does anyone know what "South Terminals" might refer to?

That was what I thought, I spent probably far too long reading and listening to the experience of others and a few had mentioned the MMI being almost a follow up of the examples given in the initial application which sounded strange and felt a bit pointless other than as a memory test

I got asked for the main London terminals which there are 5, I also threw in 2 main London stations for brownie points. In terms of geographical area, I was asked about stations at the other end of the line so maybe research where trains terminate both ends from your depot.

You can use those examples as well as different ones. As long as you feel they are strong enough answers and relevant

After applying in June 2024, passing assessments last year then passing both interviews earlier this year, having a heart attack 4 days before my medical in may. I got the call to say they’re happy for me to proceed and my medical is booked for this month! With a potential start on march 1st. I’m over the moon as I thought that would be it for me! Can’t wait to get started!

Congratulations mate, you’ve certainly passed more tests than the rest of us lol I had a call today and booked the medical for a weeks time aswell but nothing mentioned about a course start, only that Jan is filled and I’ll be next on the list.

For anyone that’s done the course and if potentially I do a March course aswell, I have a holiday booked for 6th June. Is it possible that I’d finish the course and be able to go or more likely I’ll have to cancel the holiday/ask for a later course.

As far as I know if you have a holiday in the first 4 months, you will be placed on a later course as you cannot take time off in that period.

I was told I couldn’t have any time off in the first 4 months, and that training is roughly 24 weeks. I’d imagine if you can’t work round this you’ll be offered a later course

From first induction to completion of rules and traction is approx 17-19 weeks, you won’t be permitted to take any holiday in that time frame.
Once you start at depot they are more flexible.
