It feels quite uncommon to get the full 12 months these days
This is a change that benefits passengers, there's no rush. If we're making a change to benefit the industry it's justified to try and enforce it quicker than the usual period

Display it in the TrainSplit app (for tix purchased from the forum's site), it suppresses NFC when tickets are being displayed.
What if someone buys through Trainsplit (or any of the white label sites) and then saves to google wallet. Do you suppress NFC then or is there no way of making it work if you are sending the tickets to google wallet?

NFC should be suppressed for both Apple and Google Wallet for tickets bought through TrainSplit and other Raileasy partners too.

NFC is suppressed when a Trainsplit ticket is displayed in Google Wallet.

Thank you both.

Can Trainsplit start being a white label for TOCs since you seem to be the only ones in the whole industry who are innovating and doing things properly.

For what it's worth it'd be about 10 minutes of dev work for the Chinese retailers to implement exactly the same logic. And really, it shouldn't need RDG updating the specification and forcing compliance via the accreditation process, if you've ever been on a bus in the UK with a Ticketer machine it's bloody obvious that you need to suppress NFC given how the hardware is manufactured and the scanner positioned.

Used Plusbus in Plymouth yesterday, showing tickets using the Trainsplit app after buying from the forum site.
The Stagecoach driver studied the tickets in detail before letting us on, no scan required.
Of 3 Plymouth Bus journeys, 2 drivers looked at the tickets whilst the 3rd asked us to scan whilst saying it probably won't work, which it didn't, before letting us on.

Assuming these are Ticketer (I think they are), please let customer support know exactly when you scanned it and the bus/route, and we can try and get this fixed

Does anyone know (ideally with evidence) if I am ok to use plusbus for me but the child take advantage of the free summer bus offer. It looks like a free child ticket has to be issued and one bus company (who I am not travelling with) have said adults must but a ticket or can tap on tap off. To me that makes it sound possible but I don’t want to cause a scene for the sake of a £2.30 kids plusbus.

I hadn’t realised they sell PlusBus!
Yes. I know it has its issues but I get enough vouchers to even out!

NFC was not suppressed for a Raileasy-purchased PlusBus ticket in Google Wallet today.

Tried it twice, error "CANNOT READ CARD" on the Ticketer (this will be because I have an Amex set as my default payment card, which is not accepted by First Bus).

Switched to the TrainSplit app and it worked fine.

Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but also had the same issue with the Pixel 9 Pro several months ago.

We think Google Wallet is broken, unfortunately. There have been a few reports of this nature, and B&H buses have reported the same behaviour. The suppression flag is definitely being set when configuring the wallet passes.

Could it possibly be this is happening when the PlusBus is the second (or higher) ticket in the pass bundle, i.e. a rail ticket is first and the NFC is not suppressed for the rail ticket and that setting is carried over to the PlusBus?

I do have another PlusBus ticket for Sunday which is the first entry, so I could try again then.

IMO it would be a good idea to suppress NFC for rail tickets as well. I bet it's not that uncommon for someone to accidentally present their phone to an Oyster reader rather than a barcode scanner in the London area, for example. Or indeed present a rail ticket rather than a bus one to a the reader on a bus.

We suppress NFC for all our wallet passes, because of the positioning of scanners on gatelines too.

Used a Bournemouth PlusBus eTicket today. Scanned perfectly on Morebus.

For discount maximisation reasons, I bought my ticket from Trainpal and my wife's from Transport for Wales. These printed in quite different formats.

SilverRail (TfW) has got the incorrect format, should really be flagged as an accreditation issue to RDG

Yes, that should've immediately failed accreditation.

Add it to the long list of problems over the past week!

What on earth is it doing putting a train journey itinerary on the front, let alone all the other problems with it?!

As an aside this reminds me, it is very odd that most (all?) e-tickets appear to use the Calibri font, which is a proprietary Microsoft font only really available in Microsoft Office applications.

It looks a bit unprofessional, being very obviously a default font and inconsistent with any other branding on the railway. Also it presumably must be a nuisance to implement compared to using a freely available font.

(Do all the servers that generate e-tickets run Windows or something?)

As per RSPS3030, Calibri is specified as the font to be used on E-Tickets for all information blocks other than the header:

6. PDF Implementation (for display on screen)

6.1 Introduction

6.1.1 The remaining subsections in this section define the formatting and positioning of data items where the PDF implementation of eTicket is to be used for display on a device screen.
6.1.2 All measurements for position are from the top left-hand corner of the associated Block.
6.1.3 The ATOC Rail Alphabet2 font is to be used for the Header Block. Other Blocks are to use the Calibri font.

It's not that the font is only available on Microsoft Office applications. Of course, every application running on a Windows machine would have access to the font.

I used Stagecoach South, Brighton & Hove and Stagecoach South East today. I didn't see a ticket issued for any child fare, they were just waved on and recorded on the ticket machine.

Curious. I still maintain Calibri is a very odd choice to specify!

Are e-tickets generated on Windows machines though?

My PlusBus did scan correctly today from Google Wallet without disabling NFC on the phone.

This was with the PlusBus as the first of two passes in the bundle.

I have noticed that on Apple Wallet it’s not enough for the PB ticket to be showing on screen with other wallet cards still in view. I have to click on the PB ticket once more so that it’s the only ticket in view. I also have to rotate my phone screen so it fits into the scanners of my local buses.

PB themselves have also confirmed to me that it’s permitted to print off the e-ticket and use that on the bus, which of course is not permitted for train tickets. Must admit I’m not too sure about what they say on this point.
