I know of two people who are current depot drivers who have failed their psychs twice so can’t go mainline but still are depot drivers.
The OPC on the day should have knew what to test you on. Strange that has happened.

Just had a medical today for a train dispatcher role at Greater Anglia and I was classed “temporarily unfit” due to my blood pressure (the clinician didn’t say what it was - just that it was a bit high). This makes sense to me as I’ve just recently come off BP meds due to some nasty side effects and I’m in the middle of a medication review, so at present I’m technically not being treated - hence the high blood pressure.
I’ve been told I’ll be passed fit if I provide them with 4 days’ worth of blood pressure readings but I don’t know what number they’re looking for. Is having the readings enough for them? Does anyone know what numbers they consider “unfit”?
A lot of ToCs and other organisations now have their own PTS schemes that don't register with Sentinel, this might be the expectation that it is on a general form.
Hi everyone, I am currently in the recruitment process for a Trainee Train Conductor role with Transport for Wales. I have sat and passed the SCAAT and RAAT test and have just sat the ticket checking test. The scoring for this test isn't clear so I'm unsure how I feel about my performance.
In this test you are asked how many errors are on a ticket. If a ticket has 4 errors but i click 3 do I get 0 points for the entire question or do I get 3 points?
Appreciate that criteria's / passmarks are unknown but just wondered if anybody knew about how points are earned.
I did 22 tickets but i feel i missed errors on maybe 5 or 6 tickets
TRP1 I didn't practice this at all but that's because I'm quite confident with recall. On the day you're played an Audio of the information. Ours was on a train breaking system. You're then given about 5mins(if I remember correctly) to make notes and read over the information yourself before all the notes are taken.
Personally my strategy was to read over and remember specfic context. For example the colour of the emergency brake button which was a red circle. What the braking system is for? Logically to stop the wheels running. Some of the multi choice answers were quite common sense if you were really stuck but I found all 18 fine memory wise.
I'd not stress tbh. Friends of mine all recommended to Practice by using a random article from a newspaper everyday. Get someone to make 18 questions from that article on paper that you can't initially see. Then they should read the paragraph to you or play it via chatgpt/ text to speech. After that give you 5mins to read and make notes on the article. Then show you the questions for the first time of which you have 7mins to answer all 18, timed.
The text did take about an a4 sheet. Wasn't too dense from my memory and the questions were quite easy if text was read well. If you're practicing then you'd want to set yourself at slightly a higher level so imo practice with newspaper articles.
Tea-Occ you do not go from left to right like group bourdon on the phone book bit. This will slow you down dramatically and actually you're told by the examiners to go column to column aka from up to down then move to next column and repeat.

I don't think you need to mention it tbh as if it was much of an issue like the red/green then you'd definitely be medically tested for it as its an immediate safety risk for not only line traveling but dispatch and equipment evaluation.

I was given the practise materials where i done plenty of revision and on their TRP 2 practise i got the logic of it very quick and simple but when it came to the actual assessment on the day it was a whole lot different. Are you able to recall how your TRP2 assessment was formatted at.
I understand it’s more the case of understanding the logics of it all which wasn’t an issue in other practice examples I found online but until i came to the actual day i just couldn’t function.

It resets each time. So you're listening to the tape and it goes:
Beep - Beep - Beep - Beep - Beep - Beep
Then the guy says "How many?" and you would write 6, then after a short pause it starts again:
Beep - Beep - Beep - Beep
"How Many?" and you write 4 and so on. On this bit it's the same tone you're counting every time, there are no separate high and low tones so when you hear a tone you count it.
Going by your relay of the assessments on this particular test it seems very accurate and identical to how mine went.
Are you also able to recall the TRP 2 step by step?

I was given the practise materials where i done plenty of revision on the build up to the day where on their TRP 2 practise i got the logic of it very quick and found it fairly simple but when it came to the actual assessment on the day it was a whole lot different.
I understand it’s more the case of understanding the logics of it all which wasn’t an issue in other practise examples I found online but until i came to the actual day i just couldn’t function.
And advice or information on helping me get an easier understanding will be very appreciated.

Hello guys,
Recently applied for Arriva and I passed their stage 1 assesment and have been invited into stage 2, been doing a lot of research and I have gathered a lot of information now im practising TRP1B,TRP2 which they have in their stage 2 i have a few questions about these tests when you are at the opc.
During trp1b do they first play audio and let you read the text with audio and then start the counter for 5minutes to do your notes or does the counter start simultanously as they start the audio?
TRP2 dials and cables got the practise material and i see people saying this has thrown them off is there something specific the practise materials don't show discuss that is there during the test as I found practise material extremely easy and it says it will be cables instead of arrows but I dont think that will be the only difference?
Also VSE cant find any decent practise material anybody can recomend anything besides OPC one or has more info of what happens here?
Have the exact same issue. The practise materials i received from SWR and mocks i found online seemed a lot easier to get the concept of it all but when it came to the actual day, The TRP 2 just blew me away and i didn’t stand a chance to working it out. It was a whole lot different to what I’d studied on the build up to the day.
From my searches in mocks and the practise I was handed from SWR the dials were 360 degrees where you prioritised 3 colours in order (Black, Grey and white) with an arrow.
The test for TRP 2 on the actual day was a whole lot different. The dials were 180 degrees where you prioritise 4 different options which was heat, Oil, lights and the 4th i can quite remember.
I understand you posted this a while ago and since then done these assessments. If so, How did you get on?

Does anyone know how the medical compares to that of the Police Force (in particular Warwickshire) I have just passed my police medical (after through investigation of my heart surgery from over 30 years ago!) and wondered if rail one would be similar. Eye test, hearing test, balance test, color test, fitness test (bleep test)

A question about the BMI, what happens when your over the 33 limit? I wouldnt say im overweight, im quite a big guy with muscles and I go to the gym at least 3/4 times a week. Would i fail if im over 33 bmi but physically quite fit?

have you asked them for feedback. How long would you need to be clear for them to of passed you? I would continue with your exams regardless as the qualifications may be transferable if you can't access rail

Thankyou for your reply. I’ve emailed the occupational health team and asked them, am waiting for a reply. Unsure if it’s the sponsor I should be asking or them though.
From what I’ve read I can still go on track but have to be supervised, this will clearly impact my opportunities I feel.
But there just isn’t enough information online to see how others have been in this situation
I sat this this week so I'm still unsure if I passed (and to what standard) but I would say asking the assessor if you're not sure is the best piece of advice I can give. I wasn't sure on a part of this exercise and when they explained it, it made lots more sense. As the colours are always in the same order you don't really need to look at the colours, just work from left to right, bearing in mind that the segment size will change on each dial.

The invigilator explained I had gotten it wrong and I asked a couple of follow up questions and asking these cleared up what I was supposed to be doing and I felt relatively comfortable from then on in.

That’s great you found a way and adapted quickly to it.
With my invigilator they seemed maybe not as helpful as I’ve seen fellow members on here mention theirs. Although i did ask for them to give a slight better brief on it but the day was already behind after a fellow applicant had issues uploading their personal documents but none the less none of the above was to blame with me not being able to pass.
But on ours there were 4 dials where we had to prioritise Heat, Oil, lights and Air i believe so I don’t know if that rings a bell in your version of the TRP 2.
