It is worth noting that next week sees the start of a new diagram period so any STP changes will be made upon next weeks base diagrams which may not be the same as this weeks base diagrams. This may make no difference at all as far as 701s are concerned, but it is something else to bear in mind.

Was wondering why my Reading was running slower than usual, looks like its the Delivery of another 701, mentioned earlier. Couldn't tell what unit it was as im on the 701 behind it, reading bound
Good old signallers putting it in front of the reading when it’s meant to follow behind!

Regardless of path could be a good move by signaller, the delivery run will keep on moving while the Reading behind keeps stopping at stations.

Since today's move is also booked that way, I'm also wondering why? Is it to do with the driver's route knowledge? I wondered if it was Route Availability: however, the sectional appendix seems to have both routes as RA8 (if I've read it right!!)
Or is it that the Weybridge to Wimbledon section is 4 track, so better for regulation?
It looked like 506 but I could be wrong

Ah so that is why it was on time through Clapham Junction this time !.
Usually gets sat at Latchmere for roughly 10 minutes.
(37510 +) 710506 as it passed me at Clapham Junction.

Yes, the 458/4s are obviously going and that is roughly fifteen units worth to cover. Then the 450s can be used to strengthen other services.
Bournemouth is already hosting thirteen of the 458/4 fleet in store.

Brilliant, thank you. I thought it would be and I checked back to page 594 but I don’t have the time to spend going back through pages and working out what is confirmed/speculative unfortunately.

Your welcome. I usually have trouble finding posts one page back that I know exist.
The sending of 450s to other services (strengthening) is a wee bit conjecture - depends how SWR migrate back to the pre Covid timetable and train lengths.

Was seen in the shunt neck at Effingham Jcn yesterday.
Next week, the diagram that starts with 2D08 goes over to 701. But the diagram which starts with 2R03 goes from 701 to 450. Diagram with 2C09 goes from 458/4 to 450 as well. I think this is mainly some stock shuffling with the July PA timetable change.
Chessington South goes fully 701 in this change too.

So that ends 458 operation on Reading services. Again.
Was out on dynamic testing yesterday and is out again today so once any highlighted snags are resolved from its test runs it will likely enter service.
If I'm correct, I think this means that the only non 701 services on the mainline suburban side are a handful of Woking bay stoppers and Guildford via Cobhams. Pretty much the situation we had back in the day with 455s and VEPs.

Haha I've often said its not always the slow doors on a desiro that loses time, often the crew outside of any obvious other reasons.
Sorry if this has already been answered in the thread before, but do you know if this just temporary while more 701s enter service, or will this be a permanent part of the timetable?
All suburban / Windsor services will be 701s.

I will also confirm this having been involved with the SWT (NOT SWR) 10 car car suburban plan, ie pre 701.
With the new franchise in 2017, everything suburban, both main and Windsor side, including Readings, will be 701. The Ascot to Guildford road, in any context was NEVER any part of the 701 plan, and will remain diagrammed to class 450.
The rolling stock strategy going back to SWT was to remove all 450 diagrams from the suburban area, but this was curtailed by a lack of funds from DfT, the end result being 3 x 8 car 450 still on the Reading road, as I have pointed out so many times now , I am so very bored.....!
