Hey guys! I recently applied for a trainee train driver role (5 days ago now) with GTS Elizabeth Line. I've been invested in this forum but I am still very confused. All i've received so far is that they have seen that I registered for the trainee train driver role. Not even sure what depot I applied for to be honest as I thought id quickly rush and apply before spaces get taken. Not long after that, I resented the vacancies page and trainee train driver role was gone so I think I made a good call.
Would any of yous be able to help me understand the requirements process and how all the stages go on a 1 to 1 basis via social media or whats app if possible. I am starting to get anxious with what i've been reading from page 1 to page 11. I am currently a bus driver in london so theres definitely some transferable skills here but I dont think that matters right now.

How close to your start date did they give you the final details like start time, location for first day etc?
Had my medical end of last week and was told on the day that all within limits etc so just figuring out when I should hand my notice in at my current place as all the giant stuff has been completed their end now aswell.

You probably have a bit of time to sit on it, if (assuming) you have a typical 4 week notice period.
I've heard from someone who works on the inside (Head Office) that:
They are currently looking to fill the April course, May course, and there's a course towards the end of the year.
And that courses tend to start around the same time of the month (i.e. 2nd or 3rd week of the month).
Also, they currently want to take their driver count from approx. 460 to 510- which is the purpose of this recruitment drive/campaign and this is due to plans for expansion from 22tph to 26tph and eventually 28tph.
Assuming you would be on the April course at the earliest, you still have a decent chunk of time to meet your notice period. Unless your notice period is a lengthy one which would make things a little tricky...(though I'd assume they would've asked you what your notice period was at interview and would be aware)
Yeah I'm due to start with the April course and yeah notice wise I have plenty of time as I have a short notice period, it's more they must know as they were contacted for reference so even though don't have to give more than the minimum it's better too once I get the finial details etc from gts as they will already be aware of it just not officially yet. Yeah they asked at my interview and re-confirmed how long my notice period is on each time they called me.

Is Abbeywood depot actually located at Abbeywood station or elsewhere? I noticed in my contract that the postcode for my place of work is Plumstead station.
Is close to the station like a few mins walk from there
It's Abbey Wood station. But there is also a depot at Plumstead sidings, which isn't actually that close to Plumstead station
You will have to apply for the 75% now but the Oyster card once your email is set up you apply it through there
I thought thats how it would be. I've already followed the instructions regarding the 75%.

Oh okay the finishing time is unspecified I think it depends on when u finish the task for the day

Hi, I’m in the same position as you as I got an offer in February as well. I was told last week that I’ll be starting in October
I couldn’t attend my stage 1 assessment invitation late last year due to personal reasons, am I eligible to reapply?
Contact the OPC to make sure, but as you didn't attend it shouldn't be an issue.
Get that application in!

Elizabeth Line make you do an additional test. Same for London Overground, so you may be required to do their additional test at the OPC.
Also it depends what level you passed to. Enhanced? Standard?
They use Enhanced but have a higher "enhanced" pass mark than the "enhanced" of say.. Greater Anglia, so you may have passed to enhanced standard but may be required to resit certain tests if your enhanced pass mark hasn't met theirs.

I’ve just applied for this, I passed all national standards with Avanti but failed their ‘enhanced’ ‘VSE, the OPC told me I can apply to any TOC that doesn’t use the VSE as their ‘enhanced’ standard, now from what I’ve gathered that GTS use VSE as a online ‘pre OPC’ assessment so could anyone give me insight to whether my ‘VSE’ situation could affect this application and what GTS use as their enhanced test with the OPC, any insight is greatly appreciated thanks

Just read more in to the advert and it states “you must have not undertaken psychometric testing within the last 12 months” if they have someone with recent pass marks why wouldn’t they be considered. Find that strange

I was in the middle of applying for the new GTS role at old oak common and although it was supposed to be live today as well, when I went back in ( about 20 min later) it said that the vacancy is now closed. I have received an email confirming the account registration and another saying this

Once the application is closed you wont be able to apply if you havent done so already. You need to have finished your application fully for it to be submitted, sounds like you've missed the boat on this one unfortunately.

I’ve finished the application and the SJT assessment questions. How long will I have to wait??
I'm in the same circumstances, I figured because it was online that it would automatically generate results, perhaps they are waiting for the application to close

Correct. Would it state that you’re out of the catchment area or just that you were unsuccessful? And no mention of 6 month wait to reapply. Is that automatic?
