I remember travelling on 170501 a few weeks after refurbishment and that was in May last year. That means it has taken a whole year to do the first nine 2 carriage trains. The 3 carriage units will presumably take somewhat longer to refurbish, and so if things don’t speed up considerably it could be up to another 4 years before they are all completed!
They're getting through them more quickly now but there have been various unforeseen issues with particular units being in worse condition than anticipated etc. To be fair as a production line they're doing an EMR and XC 170 and a Chiltern 168 at the same time so rattling through a fair number of vehicles.
I think it's anticipated to be at least another 2 years though.

Just seen that 158783 is to be brought back into service again after its maintenance on Etches pulled it out of service a few months ago, will start by running 1L09 off the back of a VSTP ECS from Derby.

Where it then experienced issues at Chesterfield for 30 mins due to a fault onboard blocking the line...
What issues have they discovered, out of interest?
Things like whoever installed the replacement carpets for London Midland fixing them down with the just about the world's strongest glue destroying the floor when removed amongst other issues I believe.

Nearly 2 months since 360107 returned to the MML from Northampton. It's like the bad habit I've inherited from my parents, where my logic goes like this: I've spent all this money on <item of clothing/homeware/etc> so I can't afford to risk it getting dirty/broken by actually using it

Patience indeed, another two weeks have passed since this most recent post and it looks like the newly refurbished 360107 still hasn't managed to carry any passengers...
Rapidly closing in on 3 months since it returned to EMR.

Noticed them on all EMR 158s and 170s as well (that haven't already been refurbed)

All 170s have the stickers saying refurb coming but all the non-refurbed 158s I've been on don't have the stickers yet.

They had an event for MPs two months ago. It didn't lead to the train being put into the service of their constituents!

They look really nice! But why on earth have they needed so long to reintroduce the refurbished units, given how long ago 107 returned? Is there some sort process change that's needed to accommodate the refurbished units or something?
Only thing I can think of is EMR were waiting for enough to run a pair in service considering they’re almost always in 8 car formation?

Agreed. Its taken a lot longer than expected sure but the refurbishment of the 360s is definitely a lot better compared to the LNRs 350s and SWRs 450s which refurbishments were nearly as good as this

Which would seem logical, so you don't get mixed units. I just hope once all are done they actually look at running certain peak services as 12-car services.
