The network one website states "A partnership of bus, metro, train & ferry companies in Tyne and Wear." so I doubt it as all the stations except Newcastle, Manors & Northumberland Park are not in Tyne and Wear. Probably comes down to local authority funding. Of course all this might change with the new mayoral authority but we will have to wait and see.
I wouldn't call the concrete lumps at Northumberland Park a station just yet.

They altered the original design, it did include a walkway and lifts up to the level of Station Road where the road crosses the tracks, but a later decision led to the lifts and ramp etc being removed from scope as it was decided to demolish and redevelop the main retail building (WILKO?), between the Station and Station Rd. AIUI from an earlier discussion there will be some sort of improved pedestrian route to Station Rd.
That's a wild exaggeration.
Looking at Google maps and Google earth, (showing Wilko) the route to and from the station is not clear; indeed what appears to be an elderly gent appears to be 'stuck' contemplating the car park- it may well take him 10 mins to work it out. Hopefully 'regeneration' will facilitate greater connection, in the fullness of time ...

I got to Wetherspoons, had a pint and back for the next train in just half an hour, so 10 minutes walk to the Spoons which is the opposite end of the town centre to the station.
I note the Spoons is the Rohan Kanhai, honouring the West Indian test cricketer who played for Ashington. The cricket ground is between the station and the Spoons. However ... the pub's website indicates that the building was on the site of a previous bus station and is comparatively 'recent'. Is there no pub or other landmark recognising those sone of Ashington, the illustrious footballing brothers Jack and Sir Bobby Charlton, and their mother's cousin the legendary Jackie Milburn? Perhaps there may be pilgrims who might be induced to take the train. Sorry if this has been noted upthread- too many for me to read
Not when they provide better access to Station Road!
The cricket ground is across the road (Kenilworth Road - a fine name!) from the current station and car park access. The Spoons is on the other side of the railway along Station Road (the road bridge is just to the north of the station), and my understanding is that in due course there should be direct access to Station Road from the platform.
That is not where the Spoons is. It's the other side of the town centre by the bus station.
There was one at Delaval for a while not sure iif it's still there
What's the connection up to the main road like? On google maps it doesn't look very inviting, but latest street view shows a cafe on Wansbeck square that would fill that role and presumably be quite glad of the business?
The whole site between the station and Wansbeck Square on Station road has been demolished as I posted yesterday. (I mentioned the intended lift near that café being removed from the project scope. There was also a pedestrian ramp by the down line - also removed.)
Streetview is wildly out of date, in spite of being only 2 years ago!
