Someone has posted on WNXX that the Northern £12 day ticket offer in conjunction with newspapers is starting again from 20th April 2026 to July 16th 2026.
Good news if correct! They did used to do it again at that sort of time of year before school summer holiday.

Better than the rugby league one slightly due to 8.45 weekdays start compared with 09.30 for the rugby offer.

This link shows the dates when the tokens will be in newspapers for Reach PLC titles: https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/newspaper-offer/reach-plc

== Doublepost prevention - post automatically merged: ==

And this link shows dates for tokens in papers published by the Iconic Media Group: https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/tickets/newspaper-offer/iconic-media-group
do tell - I keep following the links and links from the links, but don't see the dates when they start being in the papers concerned :)

Scroll down to "Dates to Collect Tokens" then select each of the three links.
Thanks - will give that a go

and to save others finding this it states (follow the links to find the list of papers which is rather easier to find I think)

National Titles will only have tokens available to collect during the following period:

Monday 20 April 2026 – Sunday 26 April 2026.

Regional Weekly Titles will have tokens available to collect during the following period:

Wednesday 22 April 2026 – Sunday 10 May 2026.

Regional Daily Titles will have tokens available to collect during the following period:

Monday 20 April 2026 – Sunday 3 May 2026.

so the collection windows are relatively short

Does anyone know how easy it would be to find newspapers withe the tokens in the Nottingham area (south of the river). I did some digging on where the 'Northern' editions of the Reach titles are sold and it looks like the Southern versions are sold near me... Any info would be much appreciated.

Not easy I fear

And I am not sure if the Northern editions of the national titles that carry the tokens are sold in the midlands / east mids

They used to do the vouchers in the Nottingham Post (and Ilkeston Advertiser) but that stopped some years ago frustratingly.

Worksop Guardian is nearest local paper I think - but print run is not substantial (I tried a while back....) so that's not ideal. Sheffield might be more realistic place to get papers with tokens as 2 city papers there print them in their editions (one at £1.50 per edition) plus also Yorkshire Post sold there - tho as a 'quality' paper that costs more. Derbyshire Times is in Chesterfield.

In theory once offer starts you could buy a cheap Northern Advance single Nottingham to Sheffield for example, find newsagent with papers at or near station, buy some - have the pre printed form to hand and take scissors and sellotape with you, complete the form and go to Sheffield ticket office - get ranger ticket then onwards you go for the rest of the day and use the ranger to get back to Nottingham on a northern service at the end of the day. Or go on a Saturday morning and buy a 2 day ranger that you can use Saturday and Sunday after you get the tokens.

Remember you don't need to have different editions, you can buy multiple copies of the same days paper so long as it has the vouchers in it - usually part of a quarter page advert by Northern - so check the paper before you buy a copy(ies)

The problem I have found is that many places that once would have stocked hard copy newspapers now don't have them at all (just vapes and sweets etc) or if they do, do not stock many hard copies each day as sales must be generally quite low these days.

Or if you know someone living deeper into the relevant newspaper areas get them to but the papers, cut out the vouchers and post them to you.

Nottingham station ticket office will issue the relevant Ranger tickets against the vouchers. Staff there are familiar with the vouchers. So that bit is easy.

Northern do seem to have an awful lot of rail sales and offers.

A shame some other companies don't do the same!

According to the northern website you can get in touch with reach to possibly order back copies of papers with the tokens.

I have missed the copy of my local paper that has a Northern promotional token in?

Please contact Reach PLC on 020 7293 3000 where you may be able to order back copies of the relevant newspaper

Supermarkets in Derby sell the Northern National titles if that’s of any use.

Got £0? You have a 5% chance of getting £5 and a 95% chance of getting competition entries
Got 1p to £4.99? You have a 30% chance of getting £5 and a 70% chance of getting competition entries
Got exactly £5? (£5 is the sign-up bonus) You have a 10% chance of getting £5 and a 90% chance of getting competition entries
Got £5.01 to £15? You have a 50% chance of getting £5 and a 50% chance of getting competition entries
Got £15+? You have a 25% chance of getting £10 and a 75% chance of getting competition entries
That's a crazy way to determine who should get what - surely, as the article suggests, lifetime earnings would have been a better indicator. I suppose they did just have to choose a variable, but it effectively just benefits those building up a perks balance, and not those redeeming it as and when they can, driven by the toggle which appears at checkout.

Norther Train day / weekend ranger ticket Vouchers in Daily Star and Daily Mirror in Nottingham newsagents today - probably printed all week up to April 26th. Got some from the railway station co-op.
Newspaper sellers south of the river presumably sell the same printed copies this week with vouchers in them too - eg your local supermarket / mini market or newsagent

Today it is printed on page 22 on the Mirror, and you only need 2 copies for one days / one weekends travel

On my Facebook I have just seen an advert from London Northwestern Railway

”Something in the group chat is about to get exciting. Sign up now to automatically receive our 27.04 reveal.”
“An exclusive travel offer is dropping 27.04. Sign up to get on the list”

It was about this time last year that they did a half price offer and railcards could be used. Hopefully it is a repeat as some cracking cheap days out can be had.

I used one of my codes yesterday on 3 different Northern services (all after 9.30) and no conductor (nor the gateline at Leeds) batted an eyelid.
As a recent* fan of the Super League, I used one of the vouchers this week. I bought it in the Northern Rail app. It was scanned on most of the trains and barriers, and had no problems. All the trains were on time. I started from Metrocentre at 9.34, going to Carlisle, Whitehaven, Corkickle, Barrow-in-Furness, Preston, Blackpool North and Leeds, arriving at 19.28.

*as of a minute or two before I requested the voucher
