I have an afternoon booked at an assessment day this Friday, just wondered if anyone had been to one of the days this week and whether it was just the paper tests. My first time applying so just unsure what to expect.

I've been told back end of June 2026 for a course.
Course starts on 26th June, so with an induction beforehand it’ll start Monday 21st. Subject to change of course.

If you’ve been booked in for half a day, am or pm then it’ll just be the paper tests on day 1. Then if successful you’ll be invited for another day to complete the computer tests and the MMI

Booked in for tomorrow morning, anyone had any good/bad experiences with the assessments today and is it just the paper tests?

Yes, as Ash has said, the tests were very well explained throughout the session. If you've read through the paperwork well you'll know what to expect. I found the TRP1b easier than in the practice material.

Thank you

Think ill just go in my suit anyway and just take my Jacket off inside
I wore my suit. Some were smart casual. One of two were scruffy! If you feel good you’ll perform well, at least I feel I perform better

Folks, this forum has been a wonderful reference tool. Thank you to all the contributors, it helped me immensely on this gruelling, pressurised selection process.

I’m pleased to report I’ve got my conditional offer!!

Until I pass the medical and receive a formal offer I’d rather not say which TOC or depot but what I will say is this, this job is going to be my 4th career. I’m probably going to be the oldest on the course but my message is…Never give up on your dreams!

I come from outside the rail industry and I’ve failed the assessment centre before, so this was my last chance!

This time around I had to wear reading glasses, which put me under even more pressure!

If I can help in any way, answer any general concerns about the recruitment process please ask!

Hi All, I did round one of the tests yesterday and was just wandering roughly how long the emails have been taking to come through for pass or fail. A friend did some last Wednesday but hasn’t heard anything yet. Many thanks ☺️

Has anybody had the first stage results back from the tests sat a few weeks ago? We are approaching the end of the 7-10 working days advised

I received an automatic reply stating that things may take longer due to annual leave when I emailed recruitment on Monday so don't be disheartened if you've not heard anything yet.

Until you get an unsuccessful email you're still in the running, patience is key in this process!

Some Liverpool applicants have heard back from passing their part 1 tests and have part 2 booked.
If you’ve not heard anything back have you emailed them?

It’s tricky one as you sit a SJT ahead of the interview. The SJT is an integral part of the MMI, along with your examples, which you are asked to write down on a sheet of paper. Just be honest and open and try to relax. As the interviewers are trained psychologists your NVC’s are being assessed, too.

I received an email saying I am successful first stage and inviting me to a second stage. However, I haven't done the first stage/ paper test, I booked the test before, but mark myself unavailable to attend later on TPE website, I should waiting for the rearrangement of the paper test.

The invitation email clearly mentioned there will be the computer test and with MMI, I checked on website it will be booked for full day. I've already sent two emails to tpe.recruitment@tpexpress.co.uk last week, but no one reply. Does anyone know how could I clarify with TPE? Thank you

Have you previously sat and succeeded any of the first stage paper tests in the past three years?
