The installation of the infrastructure and the commissioning of the grid etc isn’t down to Stagecoach. Many depots across the country (of all operators) have had to wait quite lengthy times for the electricity supply to be upgraded to allow the charging infrastructure to be activated. With Ardrossan depot being so close to the sea I’m not surprised that the required grid capacity wasn’t immediately available.

Ah that is fair enough I suppose. Hopefully its ready soon then.

Seems odd given that, to my knowledge, the southernmost terminus for Stagecoach East Scotland is Edinburgh.

Stagecoach launches new South Scotland Operating Company​

• Unification of West Scotland and East Scotland operating companies
• New structure strengthens service delivery and collaboration across communities
• Fiona Doherty appointed Managing Director of newly formed South Scotland OpCo

Stagecoach has announced the launch of its new South Scotland Operating Company; bringing together the current West Scotland and East Scotland operations under one aligned structure focused on delivering even better value and services for customers and communities.

The unification will incorporate the existing West Scotland operations across Ayrshire and Lanarkshire and the East Scotland network serving Fife, Perth and Kinross, Dundee, Tayside and Angus.

The newly amalgamated Operating Company (OpCo) will continue to serve communities in Stirlingshire, Glasgow City, Renfrewshire, Edinburgh, Dumfries and Galloway and the Lothians.

The move reflects Stagecoach’s ongoing commitment to modernising its business and enabling a more connected and resilient bus network across Scotland.
The newly combined South Scotland Operating Company will be led by Managing Director Fiona Doherty.

Fiona said: “This is the start of an exciting chapter for Stagecoach in Scotland – bringing together two really strong OpCos and forming a phenomenal new united OpCo.

“We will blend together all the best from both East and West; share ideas and grow together as a united team.”

The updated operating company structure has been designed to align with Stagecoach North Scotland, which serves communities in the Highlands, Orkney and Aberdeenshire – ensuring consistent regional identity and clarity for passengers, partners and stakeholders.

There is no indication that there is to be one company as yet. The legals are still Fife and Western for each company.

I don't think it will be one company, I think it more like the top level managers are covering most of the roles in each company? PM numbers are still sperate.

I’ve seen them on the 585A, but that was in the summer time and that’s all I’ve seen them

As it's stands, Ive heard the depot is staying, the depot is closing, X19 staying, the x19 going to anther company, The Citylink work is being outsourced.

One would hope some of the drivers will get moved over to First. It's still a shock at the X25 going as it's been running just shy of 30 years.

Stagecoach seems a bit of a bonkers place to be working just now, I hope they keep the workers employed

The irony here is that Stagecoach pushed First out of Cumbernauld, and now Stagecoach are pulling out of there with First replacing them.

It reminds me of what happened in the Borders with Munro's of Jedburgh back at the start of the millennium. After winning a tranche of tenders from First in 2000, Munro's constantly made them out to be the bad guys - yet who stepped in on a caretaker basis when Munro's went to the wall in 2013? Yep, you've guessed it - it was First.

Alas Cumbernauld Depot is going: So that really does leave the X19 up in the air.

Stagecoach Cumbernauld closure and transfer of services
I have been advised today that Stagecoach have decided to stop running their X25/X25A services between Cumbernauld and Glasgow. Stagecoach state: "This route has been operating at a sustained loss for some time and, despite extensive efforts to improve performance, is no longer commercially viable. Rising operating costs, peak journey times increasing by more than 25%, and the absence of meaningful progress on bus priority measures have all significantly affected the route’s reliability and cost base."
First Glasgow have now confirmed they will take over the operation of the X25/X25A services from Easter Sunday, 5th April. They advise there will be no route changes, although there will be timetable amendments but buses will continue to run from early morning until late evening, and every 15 minutes during the day, with evening and Sunday services continuing every 30 minutes.

Stagecoach also advise they will be closing their Cumbernauld depot on Glencryan Road.
Stagecoach state: "following careful consideration, we have concluded that the Cumbernauld depot is no longer financially viable as an operating base. The fixed costs of maintaining the depot cannot be supported by the reduced level of work, and the remaining express services are all Glasgow-based, making the current location operationally inefficient. We’ve started engagement with colleagues and recognised trade unions, and we will enter a formal consultation process in line with our obligations. Supporting our people through this period of change is a priority, and we will continue to communicate openly as plans progress."

I will share further details on these planned changes as additional information becomes available, and I will be discussing concerns with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) later this week.
