Maybe they're filling in White Moss Quarry and there's a shortage of excavation material from elsewhere

That'd become a story of folklore for folks in 100 years time. A bit like the many mysteries of locos being buried that we have now

I understood that they were to move them all to Longport yard, on the other side of the line from whoever does the 69s up. There was talk of new fencing and a security person.

New fencing - yes. Also a new gate between the yard and the mainline where there was none previously. Security - I have no knowledge either way. As @08221 says, the site was cleared of foliage (again), the track was lifted, the ground levelled and the track is/was in the process of being relaid / replaced. Couldn't see this week as on a RRB on the A500 instead of the train past the site.

Class 60 facebook page reportedly claiming that 60063 is "in the process of being rebuilt and soon to be back in traffic with a new operator", will be interesting to see if there's any truth in that

The loco was stored in 2021 and was one of the batch of 16 that were listed for sale by DB in March 2024

Fair comment, I've just found the facebook post and they definitely think it's a new operator rather than DCR, we'll see in due course whether it's true or just another rumour, the only other name that comes to my mind is Land Recovery

Thanks @Pkh72 I notice that the TOPS list on WNXX this morning shows 60063 as the only stored 60 that is showing as 'X' status

"Gossip rife that Land Recovery have bought a very significant number of 60s from DB Cargo including all of those in a more reasonable condition"

No corroboration at this time so it will be interesting to see if anything actually pans out on this

Reported on WNXX that DBC locos 60017, 60024, 60062 & 60074 have been downgraded to WQDA Pool (Stored Group 4) with just 60011 remaining in WQBA (Stored group 2)

There's a suggestion on Class 60 facebook that 60063 is due out tomorrow on 0947 0Z12 and 1309 0Z14 Toton to Loughborough and return, hopefully true but tomorrow is some way away ...... as yet no suggestion as to who it's on test for

60063 should hopefully be out on test tomorrow (Tuesday) as 0Z63 08:00 Toton to Toton via Leicester Humberstone Road

Blimey. My last notes on this have it down as being on a list for sale so clearly it has had a reprieve.

If this testing goes well (along with an entry back into service), are there plans for DB to reinstate more 60s following this refurb work?

From what I've seen DB had started doing work to it some time ago which has now been resumed, as to where it's going, according to rumour you name a company and that's where it's off to, one day we'll all know ......

Funnily enough I was talking to a chap from Nottingham on the ship today who'd seen me looking at WNXX, he reckons they've got 063 pencilled in for testing on the Toton - Boston - Toton steel job in the near future
