I know.

I'm just trying to demonstrate to those that say the 458s will have to stay for the whole remaining term of their lease why this would be problematic even with a slower introduction of 701s.

Right, I'm stopping commenting on this sub-topic now because it seems to be causing a lot of confusion. :)

theres two 455 8 car sets on the sheppertons today, one replacing a 701 diagram and one the 2x458 diagram

I am fairly sure he was referring to the 458/5s which were on Readings on Saturday, and Bracknells on Sunday

I was indeed. They're a long-standing regular fixture on Saturdays, but ran on Sunday this weekend as well.

Getting there slowly, but 24 units is 240 vehicles, not yet a third of the 750 vehicle fleet. Good progress yes, but still a way to go until 375 vehicles (half the order) has been used in service.

No sign of a following movement fitting in so perhaps I should resort to my first incorrect assumption that it was a drag TO Wimbledon from Derby of possibly 701003 !.
Either way I am wondering if the pair of 93s returning from Ely to Worksop via Derby are still at Derby !.


There is also the usual delivery on Wednesday 05/11/2025 from Long Marston.

I have not YET spotted anything for the GBRF loco to do in Eastleigh. Except Eastleigh/Stewarts Lane STPs which might be the Belmond Brittanic Explorer stock ?.


Overall the rate at which 455s are leaving seems to have increased to two pairs per week recently. The rate at which 701s are arriving seems to have increased as well with one from LongMarston supplemented by one to Eastleigh from Marchwood (Monday) per iirc last week. So the pace seems to be picking up.


EDIT - light loco obviously.
Question - does anyone know what 701 arrived from Marchwood on Monday (03/11/2025) ?.

0824 from WPS and messing about in Clapham Yard, what a time to be running it (middle of the morning peak) !! I wonder why they did not stick with the post peak departure of 1035.

That's a good point. I wonder what the hurry is ?.
Perhaps if the loco has to get somewhere else for another job - leaf busting season must be swallowing up a lot of locos and drivers !.

The Marchwood 701 move to Eastleigh for this week is now published for Thursday. Expect same loco as the Wimbledon drag and it then goes back up to Leicester after the Marchwood drag.

701040 is moving to Farnham at the moment. Has been on SWRs patch for a while, but haven't seen it allocated to anything in the last month.

Interesting - both the 2M10 and 2M12 services from Chess South to Waterloo were worked by 455s this morning (diagrammed for 701s)
