What are the longest tunnels on the Manchester Metrolink tram system? Guess that Heaton Park Tunnel must be the longest (at 713 yds?) but there must be several others longer than 100 yds. Anyone got a complete list of the longer tunnels/underpasses?
Those over 100m:
Collyhurst 390m
Whitefield 161 yards
Old Trafford 142 yards

In Oldham, Werneth tunnel was 431m and Central tunnel was 411m

@LNW-GW Joint. Good stuff! How about Queens Road tunnel (possibly 262 yds / 240 m in length)? Or Didsbury tunnel, near to Didsbury Village tram stop. Or the various underpasses at Ladywell in Eccles, at Alan Turing Way near the Manchester City stadium and at Ringway Road West, near the Airport? And finally, how far underground does the Piccadilly Metrolink station 'undercroft' extend in distance from one end to the other? Reckon that there won't be much else longer than 100 yds on the network.

Heaton Park is the longest, followed by Collyhurst and then Queens Road. There is a pretty markable difference between 2nd and 3rd.

Manchester Road is the shortest traditional tunnel I believe, followed by Bury Old Road, Didsbury, Trafford Bar and Whitefield.

If you include diveunders then the results change somewhat as you’d have to include Great Ancoats street, Ladywell, Ringway Road and Velopark.

It is a long term stopper. It's been the Trafford Depot christmas tree for some time. I'm not sure if there is a plan to return it to service at present, although I believe the original issue that saw it stopped has been repaired.
Is 3005 visible from a public place? It’s one of only three I need for sight.

Weird one, but does anyone know why Barton Dock Road Metrolink stop has had all station name signage removed and replaced with banners zip tied to the railings?

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they’re planning to rename it The Trafford Palazzo

Trying to get an official confirmation from TfGM, I was told they had no news about any renaming of that tram stop, when I telephoned them this morning.
someone’s not communicated something because all the signage has been gone since at least the last time I was there. It is definetely happening, due to me having word from someone who works with Metrolink and a twitter post showing the next stop board saying Trafford Palazzo in one of the trams

At 15:40, I used the "chat line" on their website, with what I suppose is an AI bot called "Michelle" on the other side of the chat line.

It was lke recreating part of an episode of "Fawlty Towers", with me playing the part of "Basil" and the AI bot playing the part of "Manuel"..."I know nothing, Mr Fawlty"

If this does end up happening tommorow which it probably will, it’s gonna happen with nobody knowing about it

It's been renamed by DFT on Naptan today (the tram section of the database is only ever changed on request of local authorities). Most journey planners should update to this name over the next few days.

Even the metrolink map now says Trafford Palazzo!

Be nice if someone can post an image of the new nameboards on this thread.
Will be there on Saturday if nobody has posted them by then :)

What’s going to annoy me is “The Trafford Centre” and “Trafford Palazzo.”

Why not “The Trafford Centre” and “The Trafford Palazzo,”

or “Trafford Centre” and “Trafford Palazzo,” why the inconsistency?

I suspect because the Trafford centres actual name is The Trafford Centre. I think what will confuse people at first is hearing Trafford palazzo at parkway thinking it’s going to say Trafford centre

Wasn't it originally going to be called "Event City" in those early days of line construction, but Event City decided to relocate, so "Barton Dock Road" was hurridly entered into the plans.

Third time lucky?

4th time lucky you mean. The original name was apparently lustock parkway or something like that someone please correct me because that name is not spelt right. Then was called event city, then opened as Barton Dock Road then changed to Trafford Palazzo. The Trafford Centre changed from intu Trafford Centre and Deansgate-Castlefield changed from GMEX

The initially proposed spelling would almost certainly have been 'Lostock Parkway' but wasn't the next (inbound) tram stop, the one currently named 'Parkway', originally proposed as 'Parkway Circle'? Two similarly named stops, both containing the word "Parkway" and one after the other, would have been confusing!

Uploaded to X today by Bee Network, could’ve announced it a couple of days prior but decided to do it on the actual day at mid day but we roll

Because the former shopping centre's official name is The Trafford Centre and the latter shopping centre's official name is Trafford Palazzo.
