Southern have four of them now. 301 / 302 / 305 / 306 have all transferred. 303 / 304 are the only ones still left at Great Northern and they will probably transfer soon.Saw 3 x 387/3 on Lovers walk today

So far it appears 1W03 and 1W20 have been cancelled outright due to not enough units. 1J92 isn’t shortformed but I’ve seen a few short forms on the Victoria to Sutton extrasSome weekday Southern and Gatwick Express services are being advertised as short-formed to 4 coaches vice 8 until further notice "while we work to introduce more trains in June 2025". These are:
[SN] 1J92 Bognor Regis to London Bridge
[GX] 1W20 London Victoria to Brighton
[GX] 1W49 Brighton to London Victoria
[GX] 1W20 London Victoria to Brighton
[GX] 1W03 Brighton to London Victoria
[SN] 1J93 London Bridge to Bognor Regis

Given they haven't sent the full compliment of 377/1s to SE yet seems a bit unnecessary. Some weekday Southern and Gatwick Express services are being advertised as short-formed to 4 coaches vice 8 until further notice "while we work to introduce more trains in June 2025". These are:

Southern train lengths at relevant stations are visible on TigerInteresting, where have you seen this?
The message appeared on the national rail bulletin feed, attached to those specific services.Interesting, where have you seen this?
Do you happen to know when 306 moved over please?Southern have four of them now. 301 / 302 / 305 / 306 have all transferred. 303 / 304 are the only ones still left at Great Northern and they will probably transfer soon.
387119, 387121, 387123, 387126, 387127, 387128, 387129, 387301, 387302, 387305, and 387306.How many 387 units do southern have now? I know it was 4 but have they got like 10 becuase they seem to be used for London Victoria to Ore services. Are they used in particular services for example the 1454 London Victoria to Ore service.
14 more to go387119, 387121, 387123, 387126, 387127, 387128, 387129, 387301, 387302, 387305, and 387306.
So in the end Southern will have net increase in units which seems generous of DfT or are there plans for increased services?14 more to go
With what paths?are there plans for increased services?
Maybe restoring some of the removed services such as the Dorking/Horsham fasts and the Sutton via Norbury services that are both missing off-peak, which the paths already exist for. With what paths?
Well 2 are presumably tied up with the Eastbourne to London Bridge peak service from December. A number of other enhancements presumably flow from having extra units, although some of that uplift already happened, for example the extra peak trains via Forest Hill.are there plans for increased services?
Is there any reason these services cannot go to East Croydon and onwards, considering these used to run all day to Coulsdon Town?A number of other enhancements presumably flow from having extra units, although some of that uplift already happened, for example the extra peak trains via Forest Hill.
Net increase of at least 4 units, not sure exactly how many I have heard different numbers. December 24 did see a slight uplift with the restoration of 4tph to London Bridge via Forest Hill, one extra service via Peckham Rye and Arun Valley. And Eastbourne is confirmed to happen next, hopefully off-peak provision is looked at as well.So in the end Southern will have net increase in units which seems generous of DfT or are there plans for increased services?
They couldn’t pre-pandemic, at least during peak times, because the paths were occupied by Victoria services from Caterham/Tattenham Corner. It’s also why trains from London Bridge terminated at Selhurst. This isn’t necessary now that they have been removed with no likely prospect of them returning. In my opinion, they have no business going to/from Sutton specifically and carry fresh air all the way there. Is there any reason these services cannot go to East Croydon and onwards, considering these used to run all day to Coulsdon Town?
Speaking of these services though, restoring these throughout the day at least as far as East Croydon would be another good use for some extra units.
A convenient place to terminate which is much less disruptive than taking them to East Croydon. If they terminated at West Croydon, then ran empty to Sutton, people would question why they don't run in service. In my opinion, they have no business going to/from Sutton specifically and carry fresh air all the way there.
Less disruptive but the customer benefit running them through East Croydon outweighs it in my eyes. Particularly the morning 0700 from Sutton is nonsensical, as it could’ve left Caterham at that time and supported the busiest services rather than arriving into Selhurst empty.A convenient place to terminate which is much less disruptive than taking them to East Croydon. If they terminated at West Croydon, then ran empty to Sutton, people would question why they don't run in service.

The 24 X 387s coming to Southern railway is 1 short than it actually is. It is 25 387s that is coming to Southern Railway.24 x 387s coming to Southern in total
13 x 377s leaving for SE.

Were the Victoria to Caterham/Tattenham Corner services not removed with the May 2018 timetable change? They couldn’t pre-pandemic, at least during peak times, because the paths were occupied by Victoria services from Caterham/Tattenham Corner. It might be inconvenient, but East Croydon has a lot of inward demand as well as offering a lot of onward connections, whereas the stations between Norwood Junction and New Cross Gate already have frequent LO services to West Croydon, and very few passengers would have any need to travel to/from Sutton. In my opinion these stations should have an all-day service through to East Croydon, but a peak time service should be the bare minimum.A convenient place to terminate which is much less disruptive than taking them to East Croydon. If they terminated at West Croydon, then ran empty to Sutton, people would question why they don't run in service.
Off-peak Victoria services via Norbury were diverted to London Bridge but peak time splitters remainedWere the Victoria to Caterham/Tattenham Corner services not removed with the May 2018 timetable change?
Huh? It's meant to be 387115-129, 387172-174, and 387301-306. What other unit is coming over? 387114?The 24 X 387s coming to Southern railway is 1 short than it actually is. It is 25 387s that is coming to Southern Railway.
I recall there is meant to be an arrangement where some units effectively form a 'balance' between the Northern and Southern allocations depending on availability.Huh? It's meant to be 387115-129, 387172-174, and 387301-306. What other unit is coming over? 387114?
Yes 387114 is coming to Southern Railway.Huh? It's meant to be 387115-129, 387172-174, and 387301-306. What other unit is coming over? 387114?
