A fitting person to name the unit after, seeing that the Networker was very much a NSE baby.

Some grabs from the event, including the decals and the naming etc.

The MD Steve White had said this will appear at the Greatest Gathering event in Derby and there will be an open day at Ashford depot date tbc sometime in August.

Just to note the open day at Ashford, is likely only for friends/family for SE. The Greatest Gathering will see the unit be available for the viewing public.

Does anyone know if the cant line is required?
The original never had this.
I still can't get used to the cant line, I don't understand why it is needed.
It was dragged under OHLE back from Doncaster after repaint. I don’t know if 465s still have booked work there but theoretically one could encounter OHLE at Ashford too.

So it was SE branded, my eyes weren't deceiving me last week!
Really glad it received 'Kent Link Networker' stickers,

Personally I don't think it's that big a deal. Also it must only have been early on that this didn't exist, as the 465s that had yellow with NSE blue as a Connex livery had a cant line by the looks of things.

A shame the windows frames weren't painted. I didn't realise Cannon Street still had NSE branding around columns.

Is Charing Cross the same? If I recall both were rebuilt around the turn of the early 1990s.

Could still have had the real clicks had they not taken the last of the real ones out of there just last year I think!

I’m not remotely bothered about trains or liveries, but Southeastern have done a terrific job there, and with the event, the clock, and the ‘merch’. Good to see the old Guv’nor looking well too.

do we know if there are any scheduled moves to Newport likely for this coming week?
There are no drags in the week ahead visible from Ely to Newport. There's this move to Wolverton on Tuesday, but not sure what this is:

Reported in the 175 thread that it’s two of those.

When are we expecting news on the tender award for Networker replacement?

Some thought it'd be when the paint job was unveiled. At the Spending Review? Greatest Gathering? Nothing and the Networkers given life extension for 5-10 years?

If so that take them into their 40s and about the same lifespan as the 455s. If a tender is announced probably around 5 years to introduce (assuming no 701-like disaster) and most will be around 38 years of age when scrapped.

I still think the govt won't be keen on replacement. Deficits are still massive, borrowing costs much higher than the splurge of new stock in the 2010s and now military spending will be shooting up. New trains and increased lease costs? Not a priority even if existing trains are hard to keep going.

You won't hear anything about it for a number of years. I wouldn't expect the new trains to be in service until the 2030s.

With plenty already withdrawn, there should be lots to harvest for spares. Will they last the 43 years that the Bulleid EPBs managed?

Rumour suggests end of the year if all goes well.
That is pretty much what SE said at the Charing Cross event, that they hope the procurement exercise will conclude this year and then to submit a business case to HM Treasury.
