Looks like 2U11 0703 off Waterloo is going over to 701 from next week. Seems like the 701 is staying on that circuit all day.

I sincerely hope that with this next uplift in service more units that just 036-039 and 043 will be brought into more regular service, otherwise there will be problems. Does anyone know whether any other units are planned to be brought into service before Christmas?

That will have the majority of Windsor services 701s, at least in the peaks

Morning peak 2Ux7/2Ux4 (up to 2U24), 2Ux5/2Ux2 (from 2U45), 2Ux9/2Ux6, 2Ux1/2Ux8

Will have to be, since the existing diagrams require four units to be in service at the same time between 0700 and 0900 -

- note: 038 has not yet been in passenger service: the only regular units are 036, 037, 039 and 043, with 028 and 031 having been out very briefly

No clue but 042 has been keeping up with consistent testing.

701 031 has just gone past Clapham junction on testing(?)
701031 has been used in passenger service, albeit only once (October 28th)
Apologies I'm not familiar with headcodes - is there a site these can be searched (RTT?)

RTT will give them. Enter a headcode in the "Quick Search" box and it will give you all the trains with that headcode. (Headcodes are duplicated in different parts of the network)

The initial 2 means a local passenger service (1 is an express, 5 is empty stock, 3 is a special working - eg training, testing, rail treatment, or delivery). The letter signifies the route - U is used for the Windsor line, (and also for the Liverpool Street - Enfield Town line and the Merseyrail route to Ormskirk) The letter may mean different things for different classes of train - 1Dxx is Dorking, 2Dxx is Guildford (both via Epsom)

In general odd numbers are down services and even numbers are up services, although there are exceptions (the Kingston loop being an obvious one)

What services off Windsor are these?

Apologies I'm not familiar with headcodes - is there a site these can be searched (RTT?)
In addition to searching RTT while there's so few diagrams if it's useful below is an extract from one my scripts that parses my download of the schedules and attempts to piece services together from associations/platform allocations. The potential new one is at the bottom assuming the diagram stays the same as it currently runs.

For each service the first code is the UID that's part of the URL on RTT for each service, the second is the headcode followed by a summary of the service. "&" means time spent at depot and a different unit might run the second half. High numbered 2Hs 89 and above run via Twickenham with the rest via Kingston.

Likely not to be a 701 from the timetable change, with the 701 diagrams remaining as they are from next week. That will go over to 701 at some point over the next few months though.

It’s in the LTP diagrams for Dec 2024, which is why I mentioned it. Of course it can be swapped out if not ready.

It's not so much that it's not ready, just that the diagrams have been swapped round. Several of the current 701 diagrams are not shown as 701 in the December LTP diagrams.

RTT is showing both 701036 and a 2x450 formation on the same diagram this morning, and also on the 2J92 service from Surbiton which I though was Fridays Excepted

but is being secretive about the 2U07/14/17/24 diagram

When I looked at OTT maps earlier, 2U04 with 701036 was forming 2U17 at Waterloo. 2U07 & 2U14 were on journeycheck as cancelled. I guess 701036 was stepped up from 2U07 to work 2U04 instead.

Train Cancellations
06:27 Twickenham to Windsor & Eton Riverside due 06:59
07:24 Windsor & Eton Riverside to London Waterloo due 08:24

Does anyone know where 701007 was headed to? Was seen at Basingstoke about 40 or so mins, heading via platform 1 down towards Eastleigh direction.

701007 is on mileage accumilation for the second time - apparantly it failed to pass first time around (several years ago now) and was sent away for rectification - lets hope they have got it right now !
Another recent re-delivery is 701050 for which no recent reports have been posted. It was delivered to Wimbledon 31st October 24, so can anyone say if it is still there (hiding inside perhaps?).

The answer to my latest FOI on the class 701 - FOI-00024550 - should be on the DfT FOI site. You probably already know most of it, but there might be something.

I wonder when this two year period (for all 75 trains to be in service) starts from :
  • January 2024;
  • September 2024;
or some other unspecified (potentially future) date? :rolleyes:
