I'd suspect the various operators don't want pictures floating around of things in their logos being broken up and literally looking like a pile of scrap?
It is usually also a condition of the lease that it must be de-branded on handback.

Believe 150279 has arrived on Canton from Landore 5Z79, how fast can we get it back in there though..
Ran ecs to Barry last night and is planned into service on 06:08 Cardiff to Pontypridd then works Pontypridd to Cardiff Bay service all day.

Showing as 150241 on RTT, ran really late from Barry ECS due to a problem with the traction equipment.

On a happier note I think it was DilligantDave that had posted that both the two scrapped 150s surrendered many parts that will keep the rest of the Northern fleet going for the next few years. They will live on in the north in what ever way.
A few pallets of spares are also heading to Exeter!

We know the 150s are being sent for scrap as they come up for C6 overhauls, but what's the status with the 153/9s that TfW are not keeping on long term?
Presumably as TfW gradually lose more 150s, they can't afford to let go of any 153s anytime soon.

I'm guessing Mondays crash between the two 158's near Powys means those two units are now out of service and probably won't return with TFW?

They will certainly be out of service. What happens to them depends how extensive the damage is. It may be possible to form 1 good set from the two.

Any news on it? Seems to have vanished off the face of the earth since!
I saw it last Tuesday night moving from the Swansea end of the depot to the Cardiff end with its Traction Interlock isolated and then again today inside the shed shut down

Why is there such a 158 shortage at the minute? I understand the crash didn’t help things but pretty much half the fleet were not out today

Quite a few sitting around on Canton with overhauls, one at Bristol and two out from the Crash. Not really a thing Transport for Wales can avoid, no services SHR - BHI tomorrow as a result.

Thanks @BillStampy sounds like a case of short term pain for long term gain maybe?
C6’s aren’t overly quick unfortunately and it depends what is wrong with the broken units. The depot at Mach managed to get one fixed today to allow the 14:49 Mach - Aberystwyth and then the 15:30 Aberystwyth- Birmingham to run so that’s at least one extra unit.
As Bill said, it will only be WMT to Birmingham tomorrow in an attempt to keep other services running.

Completely understandable.

Availability of many fleets drops in the autumn due to wheelflats needing attention on a lathe and the like.

I have read today that there have been as little as 10 158’s available.
TFW expected 17 available this week but has not materialised.

The Situation is not looking better as the week goes on, or next week for that matter so we may see some more ‘whole scale’ cancellations coming but it may not be Birmingham this time.

A lot of them are probably out of service for overhauls, heavy maintenance and looking at their sanders to make sure they're working.

Another thing, after chasing up and down the Valleys yesterday for 756s, 150279 was sitting in the shed being looked at, stood out quite a bit to the others, even in the dark.

As the 756s are now being introduced, I have a feeling the 150 hit list is going to start going through fairly quickly, especially if diagrams on the TAM lines are expected to flip to 756s in a month at the December TT.

I'm sure some spare 150s will be used for extra capacity elsewhere which'll be much appreciated, get the most out of them whilst they're able to be used. I'm unsure how many will be available from their removal from TAM lines as 756s displace them.

From Saturday, 16 November until at least Friday, 22 November TfW are apparently planning to start/terminate all their Birmingham International services at Wolverhampton.
