I thought Kelloggs were closing their Trafford Park factory soon? "Back on rail " may be only short term.
Yes indeed. That was my own speculation. I might have added Persil Automatic from Warrington but that's closing too!

Tesco will have done their sums. The beauty of containerised traffic is that a company sending ONE HGV daily from the northwest to Tesco Daventry can now use rail. There are probably a number of such companies.

A bit curious about this timetabled path which has appeared for a service running from Southampton to Portbury from 1/10/24.

Nothing has run yet, and I would expect route learners to run if it’s a new service. It might be an old path for the plonkliner train which hasn’t run for almost a year, in the same manner lots of expired services seem to get renewed automatically (there’s still a ‘Q’ path for the Colnbrook Lafarge stone trains which I think was a short-term thing around 3-4 years ago).

I was wondering if anyone might have some information as to if DCR has a new freight flow towards either Purfleet or Tilbury as it seems there's some route learning taking place as suggested by these 2 trains that have run?

What's been talked about is Willesden - Tilbury empties and loaded (not sure what with as yet) to East Peckham Tip, a week or so back RTT had schedules for tomorrow but they seem to have been removed

North London or Mildmay line
Freightliner have reintroduced the 4M88 09:32 Felixstowe - Ditton service and it still runs via Coppermill Jn and South Tottenham. From an enthusiasts’ perspective, it’s amazing, as now that DRS have ditched the 88s it’s the only electrically-hauled freight train over the GOBLIN, but is there some reason why this train takes such a roundabout route? Route knowledge retention?

It's just the path m88 is allocated historically, certainly not for route knowledge. We'll all likely need a refresh and new drivers haven't learnt it at all will be taken off the job.

Thanks for this. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks @Freightmaster it's extremely tight scheduling though, unless I've missed something obvious of course, with 6O34 running today and arriving back from Chessington South at Willesden at 2133 for a 2141 departure to Tilbury RCT, excellent use of resources though ...

The Cliffe to Chessington South route today is a bit odd - goes all the way up to Willesden, runs round and the all the way back to Latchmere Jn. Additionally it appears to have gone off route once getting there.

A question: I have noticed some new (?) "Q" paths in RTT for Forders > Cricklewood Aggregates Dbc / Acton TC services. Does anyone have any gen on what these are about?

This is actually a new development; 4M88 and the previous, earlier timed Lawley Street-bound intermodal which also used the, er, Suffragette line were always diesel-hauled.

It's a new flow - partially compensates for the recent loss of the Tunstead to Hardendale traffic!

MARK

Mark I noticed this train today at Victoria (or at least I think it's related)...

A reversal at Eccles with the loco running round is unusual. I couldn't see where it had come or was going to minus the local destinations!

I assume the Margam to Hardendale has now finished, will 6V71/6M73 still run as far as Warrington Arpley as and when required for when theyvtake wagons from Margam/ADJ to Stoke Marcroft works?

Yes and yes!

A truncated 6V71 ran last night in fact:

Got it. Will Freightliner attempt to get the path rerouted via the NLL?
How do you get from Tilbury to NLL (and vice versa) between the hours of ~0600 and ~2345 given the traffic levels on the GEML at Forest Gate Junction mean pathing is impossible?

[Hint: Goblin electrification was needed for Crossrail off peak service levels in order to divert all ex Tilbury area (including HS1) electric freight of the NLL on to Goblin]
