Labour have got in with just a small increase in vote share, but fewer votes than 2019. Keir did brilliantly in assuring Conservative doubters that a Labour government was nothing to worry about, and in effective selection of constituencies to target. He was less effective in selling a Labour government as an inviting prospect for the country as such.
The low turnout, Tory collapse and fragmentation of their previous support, and tactical voting may have enhanced their majority.
Similarly, Ed Davey did brilliantly in effectively targeting their promising seat gains. It is no longer a handicap for the LibDems having a leader with coalition baggage, if indeed it was in the first place.
The SNP lost the entire central belt back to Labour (or the LibDems in the replacement for Jo Swinson's seat). I think these voters did not want to jeopardise the prospects of a Labour government, or risk the Tories remaining the largest party. Now that we do have a Labour government, I think more seats in the Scottish elections in 2026 will remain SNP than would otherwise have been the case.
The Greens should be confident targeting new areas where they do well in local elections in the next few years.
That's a general overview for now. I may comment on a few constituencies later!
