I will be travelling soon with a Heart of England rover, to go from Oxford to Shrewsbury via Hereford. The fast way, of course, to make the journey is via Birmingham. I see that the early morning GWR Paddington to Hereford/Malvern Link IETs tend to be very delayed, so there is some risk of the connection at Hereford being missed.

If I do miss my connection, am I eligible for delay repay at all? Would it be possible to claim for the whole journey, or which leg should I be claiming for?

What about if I see that I am on tract to miss my connection at Hereford while the train is at Worcestershire Pkwy/Worcester Fte St and change for the WM to Birmingham?

Rangers and rovers are eligible for Delay Repay in the same way as any other ticket. Each day's validity is usually treated as a return ticket when determining the percentage of the ticket's value payable in compensation, e.g. a 60-119 minute delay on a 3 in 7 day rover would lead to 50% of 1 day's value being payable - i.e. 1/6th of the ticket cost.

When calculating the length of delay incurred, you are generally assumed to have taken the fastest available route permitted by your ticket(s). In some cases this might involve replanning your journey to use an alternative route due to an (anticipated) missed connection.
