Is that for the G2 signaller job?

I have still to heard back from them? Is anyone else in the same position? Should I contact them?

I was in the same position so I decided to email them two weeks ago.

I got an email today explaining that they’ve either filled the position or have too many applicants.

A bit frustrated as it hasn’t been the best of processes but you could tell they’ve a large pool of applicants and are probably overwhelmed keeping up with it.

Signalling vacancies are usually well over subscribed. 300-400 applicants wouldn't be unusual. For train driver roles you can add a zero to the end. Last year a London Underground driver job was advertised and someone did a freedom of information request to see how many people applied, there were over 10,000 with 400 passing the initial sift.

I got the same email today except I had previously been in contact with them as the two times and dates they offered me were physically impossible to attend an assessment centre due to not being in the country.

There was no possibility on there side to budge but that just proves how many people must be applying.

Unlucky but I'm sure we will get another chance next time

If not already advertised externally, they will be shortly, vacancies at Crediton Box in Devon. Up to 3 positions likely be available, I believe. Grade 3 box with an interesting amount of work controlling both the Barnstaple Branch and the Okehampton Line re-opened not too long ago.

yeah was really good my interview lasted more than an hour a lot of scenario questions aswell as question about the Signaller role. So do your research about network rail as whole who they serve which is really important and the Signaller role. Good luck on your interview.

I was placed on a reserve list back in April/May and got a call the Start of December for a motivational fit interview (was basically a casual chat) and offered a job a few days later.

Currently going through the onboarding process with start date in April.

Don't give up hope it does happe

Just had an email back regarding the Three Bridges positions, no interview this time. Bit confused after interviewing for G9 end of last year and being placed on the reserve list but perhaps this has something to do with my place on that? Good luck to those with interviews coming up, found my interviewers very friendly.

Can you apply directly for any grade? I recently applied for g2 . Only one available

I applied for g2 role yesterday and did the online assessment and boy did the last 2 floor me. I've passed driver psychs to enhanced level but those last 2 (grid test and multitask) absolutely floored me so I'm expecting a rejection. I'm hoping it's a low bench mark good luck everyone

I'm not sure how the third party currently doing the recruitment carry out the interviews (guessing it will be roughly the same as the in house interview process) but the best advice would be to look through this thread and look up network rails non technical skills and their safety vision. As for the main type of questions you'll get asked, they will mainly be can you tell me a time when you've used......

They'll be looking for you to respond using the s.t.a.r method so having a few different answers for each skill will allow you to adapt to the question.

Just stay calm, give clear responses and then it's hope for the best.

I think i was ok with multitask where you do moving car,calculation and shapes but not too sure about remembering them dots thing.

The IST course run in Birmingham is Absolute Block and is held at the decommissioned New Street PSB.

Can anyone share what sort of questions get asked, how the interview is structured. Is it face to face, video interview, is it someone asking you questions one after another.

Nope and you can't even specify what you're applying for from my experience.

So for all you know, someone applying for a ROC might not be applying for G7/9, it could be a crossing keeper.

the way the recruitment team explained to me was use another email address log In with that and you can view all vacancies with diffrent roles etc them when you find the role you want email them from your other account to apply.

I've been looking through the archive and wanting to know a little about assessment centre experience if possible, please: I've done a pre-assessment video which took me through a developing scenario. I gave my answers as best I could.
Now I have a face-to-face interview/assessment centre.

What sort of things can I expect at this? Some places online, I've read that I might need to retake my psychometric tests, another scenario-based role play, etc.

I have read numerous recent posts about the assessment centre interview part, but are there any other aspects to this stage (I believe its changed recently due to a new recruitment partner?).

TBH, you could be anywhere in Great Britain for IST. I've known colleagues going to boxes in Lincolnshire having to travel to Scotland for training. In reality it should be as near to home as possible, but it isn't guaranteed.

I'm guessing this had probably been ask many times before, but is it possible to visit a Signalling Centre to see the role first hand, speak to staff and get a better understanding of the role?

I asked this in my interview and they couldn’t wait to show me round!

Finningley, Ranskill, Norton, Carlton and Claypole are on 12-hr rosters (24/7). They work a 06-18 18-06 rotation.

Medge Hall, Godnow Bridge & Noblethorpe are three 8hr shifts, (Mon-Sat) with 12hr Sundays

Grassthorpe crossing is two 8hr shifts (including Sunday)

Ranskill, Carlton, claypole and Doncaster camera panel are all Grade 3.

A bit of a mixture. Mostly 3 on, 3 off, but some weeks may be 4 on (including Sunday), but then 7 or 8 off. Other weeks may have fewer rest days, but always a minimum of two days off.
