RealTimeTrains (RTT) gives misleading reason "due to heat" for weather-related delay

According to RTT, the 1516 from Euston to Glasgow via Birmingham is cancelled - 'due to temporary speed restrictions as a result of heat '. A bit bizarre in January I think.

Probably just a wrong delay reason input into the system.

You could argue that anything about absolute zero is heat. Not enough heat would be based around heat.

It was explained in the storm Isha thread:

Early shutdown on the AWC Manchester to Euston route with last services around 5pm. There’s also a 50mph speed restriction on for quite large chunks of the route. Ditto Wolverhampton. All the evening services out of Euston are cancelled.

RTT summarises that code but only mentions the heat option.

This is the problem with automation in general. It doesn't know when it has said or done something that makes no sense. It doesn't understand the difference, people do. This is why staff should always monitor Al Gorithm, whoever he is.....

AI may change that of course....

It’s nothing to do with what staff have input.

It’s an RTT error pure and simple, which only adds to confuse things. It would be better off summarising as being due to “weather conditions”

Or to just display the entire official name. I'm aware flooding has its own code despite being weather related.

For example: yesterday 1S98 1930 London Euston to Glasgow Central was "cancelled between Preston and Glasgow Central due to flooding (JK)."

Staff didn't input by correcting it, that is the problem.

RTT isn’t a railway industry system. What Trust/Internal/External messaging will show will be correct. So I’m not sure what you expect staff to do? I can change what is in Trust but I can’t change RTT if their reasons don’t reflect reality.

RTT can be ignored and has again been misinterpreted.

Regardless of what reason is shown, the delay will not go away
