Would be nice if they could put a bit of pressure on Arriva in North Kirklees. They dominate that area as much as First used to dominate Huddersfield if not more so. I've no experience with the "new" Yorkshire Buses as yet, are they decent, or sketchy as most other start-ups seem to be?
I had my first significant trips round Huddersfield since I moved away earlier this week, and it was sad to see how poor things had got compared to even ten years ago, let alone the Yorkshire Rider days.
It no longer sees an uplift in the afternoon peak, staying every 30 minutes

Wouldn't it be both University of Huddersfield and DIGS who lease out the contract? Either way looking at the new timetable there's an 0600 from Storthes Hall to the University with no return working - with the next one being at 0800 doing the full circuit (Storthes > University > Storthes). The changes to the timetable will be down to cost and how much bang for their buck that both University of Huddersfield and DIGS gets in return, although I would have at least expected some form of nightbus offering to allow students to get back to Storthes Hall from a night out whether that'd be in Huddersfield or Leeds.

This more or less explains why First Huddersfield lost the contract, I can imagine one stroppy driver lashing out at a student/s because they'd gone and bought the wrong type of ticket (the student/s could be from a non First operating area and certainly won't understand the West Yorkshire set up or way of things) or they'd had a go at someone carrying a foldable clothes drier claiming that there's no room when half the bus will be empty.
I still think that there's more cuts to come soon, especially with the less frequent services being relinquished and only the more frequent being retained.

Ticketing shouldn't be an issue, students get a bus pass if they live at Storthes.
First have increased the 72 service today including journeys as early as 4am from Bradford and an after midnight departure from Leeds
As Bradford Interchange and Leeds City Bus Station are closed at such times, opening from 0500 to 0000 they are having to depart from the next bus stop in a late notice change

That seems farcical - do First's planners not know when the bus stations are open?
Metro could do with updating their timetable as soon as possible as that's where many people will look.
Although at least they'll find it there. Passengers who look for it on First's Leeds site will be told there's no route 72. They need to know that it's considered to be a Bradford route - if they look there they'll find the out of date timetable from July listed as valid "until further notice" and only if they scroll further down the page will they find the correct timetable (but with no message about the services not serving the bus station).

I’m guessing they didn’t give it a thought as I’m not sure they’ve run buses at 4am out of Bradford before, at least not in recent decades
I think members of the general public are allowed to use it, there are a few houses near the Storthes Hall complex, don't quote me on that though. Obviously it only stops at Lidl, Morrisons then on to Storthes Hall so whether anyone does I don't know.
You'd think, having made the mistake, they'd try to make sure all the information for passengers about not using them was easy to find...

Huddersfield's 37125 failed in Milnsbridge on Thursday night, around 8.00pm (Bustimes.org record: https://bustimes.org/vehicles/flds-37125?date=2023-09-07#journeys/474459223)
Remarkably it wasn't recovered until the following afternoon, despite being abandoned in a position where it caused considerable inconvenience and congestion.

Still a couple out today in York. The Electrics deckers are out in quite numbers now. I love the purple livery - is that a country wide First electric livery?

An exception is Leicester where First electric buses are green. Mind you, so are those of CentreBus, and the Arriva ones will be green too.
