I've seen cryptic messages such as yours elsewhere that refute this, but with no detail. It may well be the owner is skewing things to his side, or outright lying, but when those claiming such don't back it up then it's hard to pay much heed.
What false accusations though? That he submitted the paperwork but in reality hasn't? It's hard to believe that a company that has been running buses for a long time don't know how to apply for fuel duty rebate. If there were mistakes, why not work with them to correct the submission? Whatever has happened, Hulleys have stated they have no intention of working in to Manchester again so it's closed options for future routes which is a shame.
However, one thing that does ring true about the situation is that the owner doesn't seem to be the most patient person and maybe isn't the best at diplomatic cooperation. I'm not saying that is necessarily all bad as sometimes you do need to call a spade a spade, but certain organisations don't seem able to handle going outside a set pattern of working, so patience and diplomacy is needed.

ENCTS as you mention. That sounded like Hulleys maybe misunderstanding the rules - wasn't it to do with how the service was registered? From memory as it was in multiple parts, they needed to have their pass recorded against each section? I think that was resolved fairly early on by them stopping accepting ENCTS on that route.
The main one though was that they applied for fuel duty rebate and TfGM wouldn't sign it off. That cost them the most from what he said.
Lastly there was being charged for having the timetable on display, and that charge being levied well after the service had finished.

Is that common practice? It hardly encourages bus operators to advertise their services and attract passengers, which presumably is what Councils would support.

I can assure you that the staff, many of whom are from bus operational backgrounds, are more than capable of dealing with "characters" far more confrontational than the person you are referring to.

It doesn't make sense to me either. In Derbyshire I'd be wanting my money back as the cases are only infrequently updated. Indeed, in Matlock Bath there is no mention of the Hulleys 110/111 but a big advert for the TrentBarton services.

That rather proves my point. Plenty of people throwing accusations around, only the owner has directly addressed it and given his side. How exactly are we supposed to take seriously anyone who claims it is wrong when this is the sort of reply we get?
I am probably most certainly off the mark but has anyone else spotted that the old severn trent water works offices by the side of Tapton Bridge in Chesterfield has now become a rent a space for your bus? Theres currently a notts and derbys double decker there and surely this site would suit Hulleys well if they want to out post here.

That’s something I‘ve noticed too. In Wirksworth, there’s a couple of bus stops in the centre that have a Hulleys/Stagecoach timetable, but all of them have big bright Trent ones.

It's likely because DCC gave the contract for updating timetable cases to one of the Wellglade companies. (Can't recall which, whether it was Trent or High Peak)
They just got around to updating all the ones on Chatsworth Road to include the Breezer a couple of weeks before it was due to finish.

With the news of the latest Stagecoach cull of services in the West of Chesterfield, I rather hope Hulleys are able to expand some time soon as I'm sure they'll be needed to take over when the pathetic offering drives away any remaining passengers, making then 'unviable'...

The bus stop timetables have been a disaster for those wanting to see increased use of buses. As an infrequent user I've found potential users of the Breezer waiting for non existent services 3 times this summer despite them appearing on apparently new displayed timetables.
I can understand that's a minor issue when the operator is battling broken down vehicles, lack of drivers and road works but it matters when trying to woo passengers out-of their cars.
The bus stop timetables should be generic or local authority branded and list every bus that calls at that stop regardless of operator. Derbyshire has got a lot worse for this. It's a shame as they used to be one of the best for up to date and clear timetable information.

A lot of Derbyshire bus stops near me suddenly changed to have joint DCC/High Peak branding on them a few years ago, so it may be High Peak. Anyway I'd hope part of the contract they have with whoever it is, states they must treat all other operators - like Hulleys - fairly and the same as they'd treat themselves...

Derbyshire County Council (DCC) don't seem great at thinking of things like that. I suspect they just saw a way to palm a service off on to someone else and were happy to take it. Also seems an odd choice as there are plenty of parts of Derbyshire well away from their operating area so you wonder how often they get someone out to check and update the timetables.
Worryingly, I was just reading that DCC are on track to exceed their budget and blow all their reserves, so have put a hold on all non-statutory services. I'd assume the BSIP - if there is anything left - will be ring-fenced, but I can see other tendered services being cut and no top-up from normal council funds.
As significant cuts are coming to the Chesterfield area it looks like pieces of the jigsaw are starting to fall in to place.
I'm hoping to travel on the Hulleys 110 service from Matlock to Brassington in a couple of weeks. Given the current bridge and traffic situation in Matlock, does anyone know if the service will start from its usual stop on the normal side of the road?

Thanks for that. Good to see the 11:45 from Matlock is the same as the old timetable.
I'm planning to get the train to Matlock, Bus to Brassington, and then walk the High Peak trail to High Peak Junction and the canal into Cromford to get the train.
