Horse brasses hanging in pubs. In fact, horse brasses hanging anywhere except on horses

Mosquitos and craneflies (daddy long legs). Other than being food sources for other species, what is the point of them?
Not sure how you could ban species of insects.

Exactly - but also pub fireplaces where no actual link with horses. It's SO cliché!

Admittedly, I need to invent time travel and find the first breeding pair in existence. So it's a bit of a long shot....

Although they are out of synchronisation, I still prefer to watch cricket with the radio commentary playing instead of the TV sound...
I think this was ok ‘back in the day’ of analogue radio but not with digital due to the time lag.

Note: What is now the point of the Greenwich time pips with regard to digital radio? I’ve had Radio Two on both of my house radios, one on FM the other DAB. The pips on DAB can be 30-45 seconds behind.

Do you have any views on (a) Breakfast bars (b) cocktail bars - ideally with plastic castanets

In a domestic scenario , for example terraced houses. ?

In my experience, the differences are as follows;
if fm is regarded as the nearest to UCT and as a reference:
1) the radio stations on DVB, (i.e. via the freeview tv service) arrive about 1 second later
2) DAB stations arrive about 2.5 - 3.0 seconds later *
3) Sounds streams arrive between 20 and 25 seconds after fm.
The latency of DVB audio, DAB and the highly compressed internet stream of the sounds service effectively mean that only fm can be used to set timepieces to better than one second accuracy wrt UCT.
DAB receivers can vary in their latency by over a second according to the chips et and processing that they embody

As an aside, DVB TV can also vary, the SD channels delay the same as the sound only services (see 2) above), on HD DVB2 channels with their more advanced compression, the delay is about one extra second.

Pubs & Restaurants which serve food on anything but a porcelain plate!

I’ve had wood chopping boards, a roof tile etc. I’ve heard of one place that served food in a flat cap (I hope there wasn’t gravy involved).

Just give me a proper plate……

Note: I need to say the 30-45 second delay was listening to Alexa.

Picture generally got, I think: is that this thread is about flights of fancy -- practicalities are not a consideration ! Have noticed upthread, posters expressing desire to ban: people who don't like fish; cheesiness and over-sentimentality; and colds. And I seem to recall some highly misanthropic character who wished to ban children...

I tried this but just couldn't get my head round it, Sky would be showing a wicket whilst Radio 4 was a ball behind, freaked me out
My setup works better in that the DAB radio precedes the television picture. I also have two DAB radios in two rooms which are mercifully in sync so I can wander around listening to the radio commentary and head into the TV room if something interesting happens. I agree that the other way round, as you describe, would not work as well. I get my Sky TV via Virgin cable which might explain the delay.

Well they think they can ban certain species of dog ... :D :D:D
Of course, especially as most domestically owned dogs are reared to have specific characteristics, usually for cosmetic reasons but occasionally (unfortunately) for nefarious purposes.

I saw quite a violent fight in my bathroom between a spider and a daddy long legs a couple of weeks ago, so perhaps good for sport !

Cashpoints that make you play a game of 20 questions just to make a withdrawal.
Would you like to see your balance?
Are you sure you don't want to see your balance?
Go on, you know you want to see your balance really.
Given that God is infinite, and that the universe is also infinite... would you like to see your balance?

But still won't give you a receipt for the cash withdrawn - useful, but not essential, if you are presented with less than you asked for, as I once was.

And then, when you've told it repeatedly that you don't want to see your balance, it sodding well goes and prints it on the receipt at the end of the transaction anyway!

And, from this morning, on a different topic:

Online chats which don't give you an option to save the transcript at the end when you're finished. I had to muck about with cut/paste/Word to save the one I had this morning for my records.

"Optimised charging" which I have just discovered and disabled.

Essentially my iWatch decided that since I normally charge it each night, it doesn't need to charge to 100% because this "shortens" the battery life so it only charges to 75% instead.

So on the first night I decided to go out late I will be unable to tell the time because my watch battery will be flat!

If my battery dies, I'll buy a new watch ......

Bus LED display blinds that dim in daylight, i don't know if it's the tech, or how old the blind is, but i find it really annoying when bus blind is barely readable (& i have decent eyesight) because the blind has dimmed, but then the blind gets brighter after sunset.

Are you sure that they actually dim, or is it that daylight makes them seem dim? Remember the average light levels on streets is between 10 and 15 lux, whereas daylight ranges from 10,000 to 25,000 lux without direct sunlight.

I know, I’m an old fart, but I can’t understand why anyone would buy a watch which needs charging every night :)
I cannot understand why anyone would pay £5000+ for some of the watches I have seen in jewellers' shop windows.
