Why is it that Service No. 68 (Preston-Blackpool) always seems to have Double Decker Buses throughout the daytime whereas Service No. 61 always manages to have a mixture of Single/Double Deckers/Coaches.

Is it due to a limited fleet?

The 68 is a low floor service, the 61 and 59 are not yet.

34214 on Citi 62.
34048 was on Citi 76, replaced by 34714. 34048 then replaced a Dart on 61/61A.
A UID B10M on 76 as well.

The out of service is different (all one line) and i saw a trident with "Lancaster University 2" all on one row.

Are there two people with opposing views on display layouts who get to take turns every 6 months?

Just been out to have a look and all the LEDs have changed as stated above with everything on one line and no via points whatsoever. I think it looks crap but I'm sure they have done it for a good reason. Local people don't need via points, we all know where our local services go. However people who are visiting Lancaster could find via points useful. Granted they can just look at a timetable but was handy just been able to look at a scrolling line to see if a bus was going in the direction you wanted. The MANs new format has changing via points...

Only the MANs(except 22809) and 47247/8/9 have the changing via points and 20133 with a bright-tec(only one?).

It'll need done for Monday! It has Carlisle 600 and Cockermouth 600 on (no Whitehaven 600 :lol: has to show Cockermouth when its going to W.C.Hospital), but it'll need the Cockermouth 601, Whitehaven 601 and W.C.Hospital 601. Similarly, it'll need Keswick X4, Keswick X50 and Penrith X50. Whitehaven 302 and Workington 302 would also be handy, for if it ventured onto what is now the "short 300".

Others have also changed, of note you can no longer buy a 4 day explorer, its been replaced by a new 3 day one. Makes more sense for people coming to the lakes/Lancashire for a long weekend over the bank holidays etc.

Many of the vehicles used on shuttles or VOR yesterday had new prices added, with all the old style orange rectangle adverts removed in place of the newer "Manchester" style ones. The person doing it was under instruction to treat all vehicles, so some B10Ms/Olympians which didn't carry the old style adverts in the first place have had them applied (including the B10Bs).
15681, which on this Saturday duty I keep all day, got its new prices applied while being fed, cleaned and watered during my lunch break.
See if you can spot tomorrow morning the ones that have slipped through - should be at least 2 Olympians which have spent the weekend at Garstang and 1 B10M which I think lives at Ingleton for the weekend. These will possibly be treated when they return to the yard mid morning for fueling and cleaning.

Don't take this the wrong way Andrew, but I personally think Kodaks are crap lol
I've never held them in good regard lol.

I'm a Nikon man myself, but I admit Canon are good too....

I think they're good I like canon as well.

Ohh, one thing, the service changes means that service X4/X5 will leave Workington 15 minutes past the hour like they use to.

The current 0820 to Cockermouth School is changing to 0810. Hopefully it might actually get down in time to run it at 0810. Often see it just coming down at 0820, finally leaving nearer 0825.

Should hopefully see 300's run to time a bit better too, with a slight increase in running time. Buses depart Whitehaven at xx05 instead of xx08, but still depart Workington at xx35. That 3 minutes extra should help, especially when most of the buses now are often leaving Workington between 0837 and 0841 on the 0835. Lateness usually depends on which combination of drivers are swapping over. Some get the driver change done quickly, but others end up having a bit of a conversation in the middle of it, making them run later. Just lucky not too many oldies use that run (with them having to pay). Had one the other week where an old woman was telling the driver to go a bit quicker because she missed her connection to Gretna last time she travelled, with the 300 being late.

Your best bet (quickest) is to get the train to Lancaster, walk to Lancaster bus station and then get one on of the shuttles to the depot


(I'm assuming the shuttles will be running, Gez can confirm)

Yes, but outstationed at Ambleside overnight normally.

IIRC normal overnight allocation is 3 B10Ms, 1 Trident (for early 555) and 33170/B10M.


Andrew; details of the shuttle will be posted nearer the time I'm sure.
