I'll 'fess up :D
Twice, both with Mrs EM2. Once on the NR network, and once on a preserved line ;)

On a preserved line? How very indecorous. Surely the thrill of clanking along at <25 mph was a little underwhelming......

I'm yet to join the Metre High Club myself, although I did come very close to doing so on an NIR 80 class DEMU forming the 14:40 [London]Derry > Belfast Central between Ballymoney and Ballymena one day in 1993.

I'm sure we'll hear about these stories in due course, it will be one of those "I recall the time I was on 80 and" if we are successful in seeking said traction next week.

Maybe it was at a diesel gala. On the Beer-Ex. With Zontar lurking about.

Small wonder thumpers are my favourites! The state of the track on the NCC main line back then was quite unbelievably bad, and this meant the set was swaying about quite enough without any help from the passengers' actvities.

Not to mention the thrill of behaving rather inappropriately on a train penetrating the heart of super-puritanical Ulster Presbyterian country!

Well, as I don't know any of you, I suppose I can confess this!

After a few years or nagging the wife agreed to join me on a trip to Scotland, did the sleeper up to Fort William, spent a few days in Inverness and then travelled back down to Euston on the Sleeper.

So we leave Inverness and adjourn to the lounge car, after several glasses of wine we decide to go back to the cabin and have a little cuddle. Well one thing leads to another and we start being a little more intimate, at that point one of us must have hit the blind as it shot up and there was a scream from both of us as we realised we were stood in Stirling station and there was someone on the platform.

To this day we do not know if he saw what was going on, but lets just say the blind was pulled back down and we finished what was started!

Indeed. Maybe the unions were right about not getting rid of secondmen, if the result is drivers merrily operating their own power handles in this way.

Oh dear lord!! :lol::lol::shock:

Absolutely loving this thread - trying not to spit tea all over my laptop!

Nice one! A solo and more innocent version of this happened to me on the sleeper last year. We'd stopped and I opened the blind to find out why, to find myself standing in my duds effectively right in the middle of a group of spotters on the platform at Crewe outside. They were admiring 31106 BTW.

What about railstaff getting friendly on rail premises? I know for a fact there was a shunt in the right direction working in Richmond (Surrey) 'box one Saturday night many moons ago. 4-5-5! (If you know your block you will understand!)

How dare you all continue this thread without me? You knew damn well I was attending the meal in London! Not amused! <(

Anyway, a couple of loose ends to tie up (that came out wrong )...

Oh, and Ivo, was that you actively flirting then?!!! lol

Lol, i think Ivo was just being gentlemanly :)

Um... About that... I'm going to say that I was flirting in a gentlemanly manner. Does that sound decent to you all? And to the fair lady in question? ... ... ... ... ... Um... Yea. Unless somene else has a better idea, like suddenly deciding that a relationship spanning half of England [Bath to Sheffield, one would assume] is viable (oh wait, this is a railway forum; long distances are encouraged...!)!

Anyway, I know it's extremely unlikely, but has anyone on here ever met their partner through this forum? Or, assuming the answer is "No", has anyone on here met their partner through the railways period?

Theres nothing more romantic than steam.....:D

Being biased, I'm going to agree with this :D
