TFW are godawful at updating online systems. There are so many instances of rail replacement buses not showing up on systems or showing up with the wrong times. The worst TOC in the UK for it. It's just their team are careless and don't care about providing the correct information. Even when informed of errors, they choose not to correct the errors because it's clearly more effort than it's worth.

When I reported issues to them the other week, their planning team had supposedly never heard of Real Time Trains. Though checks between RTT and other railway sites suggested that RTT was a little slower at updating data.
What a sad state of afairs. No wonder passengers don't have clue what is happening

Glad other people now seeing the issues. I am now starting to think the Welsh Govt owned TFW prioritise Wales based customers and don't give a xxxx to English customers. You only need to look at this image showing S Walea valley services with a good service. Feel sorry 4 Flintshire and Wrexham boro county passengers that suffer also., Remember English based voters don't have no say in Senyd elections

Wales is just as bad. Valleys can have plenty of wrong buses or buses following trains because no one has informed the right people of what is going on. The failure of TFWs team at updating online systems with the correct bus replacement details sadly affects the whole of the network, it is not exclusively an issue to english passengers.

379s

First one delivered on the day specified in the contract when signed, and first one in service to programme.
Thanks for the info - I am shocked. What a cruel irony, the 379s are now a fairly new fleet with arguably the least chance of re-use !. Sad.
Siemens regularly delivers new Vectrons on time to customers (the first Danish locos were delivered early, for example) - but that's the benefit of production of a standard design over a long period of time (>10 years).
I think you hit the nail on the head - standard designs. Which of course the 230s are not, and never will be although the concepts might well be repeated. I mean the quick change engine/battery rafts and fast charging - not the recycling of old trains bit.

I assume standard design the 379s' strong point as well ?.

350/2s on the WCML were painless at introduction, but they did have the 350/1s to pave the way (and the DC 450s before that).
Another fleet whose future is uncertain.

Looks like the chosen one will be 230010 tomorrow
There's a argument on Facebook at the moment as some tfw staff saying they've heard its 230006 on the service diagram. 230010 is on staff training but others saying its the other way around.

Well have to see what turns up to do the 0732 Tommorow morning

I know of at least one YouTuber I follow is there and has posted a picture of the unit so I would say it's actually happening at last. Let's hope it all goes OK.

Shame to see 006 graffitied, hope they can clean it up at catch the f-wit that did it.
Come to Belgium! It's a bonus if you can see out of the window on some lines, with the amount of spray paint on the bodyside.

New train is much quieter that the class 150, and has got a brand new car smell. Bit bumpy on the worst parts of track. You will get the seat is hard complainers from the 777s moaning but transverse seats have a little more padding. Positive, but need 2nd one running ASAP so we get an hourly servjce back

We need the 30 min service over peak periods ASAP.

And in dreamland, a train that goes direct to liverpool (or as a start an earlier first arrival into bidston)

That’s the aspiration, as I understand it.
One of the reasons for the 230's is they can handle the gradients but to be a stop gap. Long term the 777's could on paper take over the line with some fast changing involved.

Sadly not in the evening peak until they get the freight path/junction sorted out south of Shotton … that’s the big Achilles heel in all this for the commuter market…

Seems to have trouble keeping to time - successive arrivals at Bidston have been 4, 8 and 12 minutes late, the most recent (1232 arrival) despite turning short at Wrexham Central

Was on the 2nd round trip today, starting from Penyffordd - one train in service (230 010) plus a replacement bus.
Like the 397 first day, was running about 10 down throughout, and turned at Wrexham General on the way back to gain some time.
Good ambience inside, seats and view fine, crew very helpful, disabled toilet available.
PIS only working on the first leg, the voice is ATW's familiar Ruth.
Ride mostly OK and better than CAF Civitys, but very poor on jointed track (which is mostly at the Bidston end, and seemingly about to be replaced).
There's a tendency for some vertical bounce on the racing stretch on the Wirral, which I can distantly remember from District Line trips.
Engine noise is a bit thrummy, and sounds just like a Pacer did, though without the accompanying dip and sway.
Made a sprightly run up Aston bank.
The door warbles and intercom buzzer are much too loud.
But otherwise a nice ride, and perfectly suitable for the route.

There was a film crew on board, otherwise not really busy if you subtract the bashers like me.
One passenger out for the day knew nothing about the railway and was astonished he was on a repurposed LU train.
Not so impressed at having to walk to Wrexham Central after we terminated short.
The RRB turned up at Penyffordd and contained one passenger (none off, none on).
It's still a mystery to me how the service economics works out.
